I think we have all probably had that "breakthrough" thing happen in our shooting that kinda brought our shot process together and seemed to instantly make everything better. Be it finally finding proper back tension, the right anchor (for yourself), switching aiming systems, etc.

Just thought it might be cool to start something where we all post what helped us the MOST over the years...simple or complex. Who knows, it might help someone who is struggling.

For me it was developing a mantra/saying during my shot process that made a huge difference. "Draw, anchor, squeeze, release"....simple, but keeps me in rythm and shooting consistent.

Ditto the mantra. I started using one while doing Jim Castos to drills. Has become ingrained.

Keep up the bow arm and follow through was my big factor for improving my shooting.

Switched to 3-fingers under, but am still working on bak tension and the ‘rotational’ release ... so for me it is still too early to say which one is/was best.

Dynamic release changed a lot for me

The biggest help I had was joining an archery club in 1967 and paying attention to the good shooters. Back then most were into learning good form and doing those things to enhance accuracy. Funny how that carries over to the hunting woods and the rest of your life.

When I realized that I wasn't actually looking down the arrow shaft like I thought. Once I made the adjustment my accuracy really began to improve.

Ditto on keeping up the bow arm and follow through. When I lose "my groove" I imagine steering the arrow with my bow arm. It puts me back into the groove.

Ditto on the kudos to Arne Moe! Although i was not able to visit him in person, he analyzed a couple videos of my form, made two very important, spot on recommendations that brought my shot together. Arne possesses the ability of keen observation along with the ability to give clear direction. Another important revelation came from Jimmy Blackmon's video on aiming references. This has done much to refine my "sight picture" and has really upped my 3d scores and standings.

String blur...just to the left of the shaft, which is just to the left of the riser.

Not being afraid to try something unknown. Move from instinctive shot, wasn't getting real accuracy- to 3 under Gap and suddenly things came together a lot better. Also telling myself to relax in the draw cycle and let the felt weight just happen, don't over tense. Staying relaxed in the pressure of full draw is something everyone has to learn how to do, even at very little draw weight. I just had to train my mind to accept it.

Lefty. What's a "rotational" release? Never heard of it.

Being fortunate enough to shoot with excellent shots like Nemophilist (Frank) and a few others and wise enough to pay attention to them and listen to and use the advice they give me.
