Hats off to UPS, my lost gear was returned home today! A week or two ago I posted looking for a green bjorn net. I didn’t make a big deal about it but my case was lost between the Jackson, Ms show and the Memphis show. The bow case and arrow case showed up just fine but a day or two before my show in Memphis there was no net or targets.

The original net is the only part of my show that’s been with me since the beginning. I’ve had it 34 years and it’s hung in Amish barns, fairs, festivals and almost every major hunting and sports show across the country. From the Dixie Deer Classic in 1986 (and I was back there in 2019) to The Fred Hall shows in a California. From Tavern on the Green in Central Park to the lawn of the main house at King ranch... that net has seen 44 states over 34 years.

I have three sets of show gear- this includes a two bow SKB case, arrow case and SKB case with a net and balloons. Anyway, typically one goes to the east coast shows and one west coast and I keep one in Texas.

The sets go show to show and then come back at the end of show season. I schedule the main Bjorn net at the big shows. It’s my favorite. Jim Easton introduces me to Bjorn Bengsten back in the 1980’s. His net is light and soft and weighs less than the new nets. The new nets aren’t as soft and easy to work with.

Anyway, they no longer make the Bjorn net. So last week when the net didn’t show up I was concerned. The show that shipped it was trying to track it and I spoke to a UPS facility manager. He said I had a 50/50 chance of getting the net back.

As of yesterday it didn’t look good. It was a week and bonnet. No word.

Today when I drove up our driveway I saw my black case sitting in front of the garage door. The net was home!

I examined the case and the tags for Memphis were gone but an old tag with my home address was there. Evidently it came home because of that scan- I didn’t care how it made it I was just happy to have the net home!

I will keep my eyes open and buy another Bjorn net if I run across one. This one and I should have many more shows ahead God Lord willing.

So earlier this year it was Dick Mauch’s ring, today my Bjorn net. It’s been a good year.

Well, had it been lost I have replacement nets but only one Bjorn and that net has seen the miles and memories. I can’t begin to guess how many actual exhibitions I’ve done in 34 years with that net. A bunch, for sure.

It was luck. All the current labels fell off but mine stayed on - an old one- but they delivered it home just the same !

I even contacted Greg Easton and other friends looking for one. No luck.
