Interested in buying a Stalker Coyote. As my new takedown bow for a hunt next year (Hogs/goats). Trying to decide if I should get longbow limbs 64inch or or static recurve 62inch. I shoot both recurve and longbow. Anyone shot both and have a favourite?
How do they compare speed, smoothness, sound?

Both are great setups, and interchangeable so you can start with one and always get a different set later. Lot of guys have a set of each. My rig has static limbs. Among the quietest recurves Ive ever shot and Ive had many. The statics are super quick too and powerful. Mine are 49# but to me shoot like a bow 5# heavier with a heavy arrow. The longbow limbs are great performers but imho the statics are the special of the two. You cant go wrong with a Coyote.

Btw my statics are 62 and I draw 29, you can pull em smooth even farther.

I've been shooting the static tips recurves for a few months now. They are very quick, hard drawing limb. Unless you plan on shooting a brace height over 8 1/2" to get the string off the limbs, quieting them down is a hassle. Shooting the ilf limbs, I get a lot of felt vibrant while shooting a high 9.6 gpp arrow. Deep hooks, deep string groves makes unstringing and stringing the bow a pain. After years of shooting Winex limbs, it's taken me a while to get used to them. My back sure feels them. And I draw 29 1/2". I suggest you shoot them first before deciding.

I have 2 coyote’s, both static tip recurves. Super quiet and really quick. I absolutely love them. I may at some point but longbow limbs but don’t see a reason to right now.

Buglmin I hate to disagree but statics are quieter as there is less contact area on the limb. Super recurves are unbelievably easy to string, easier than they appear and easier than many bows of old. They tend to run lower brace hieghts too.

So will you really make a choice on someone else's suggestion? Just curious. Most times, longbow limbs will be quieter since the have less limb contact. They most likely won't be quite as fast because they are longbow, and not recurve and store less energy. I believe I would shoot both before making any decision. The quality of Stalker bows are not in question and they will kill anything on the planet. My suggestion is to shoot both, then decide.

Thanks for the reply's. Would love to try them both, but live in Australia and don't know anyone with a Stalker bow, so going to have to make my choice based on others opinions. My current takedown is a Predator Hunter Recurve. They are very quick and accurate, however I find them loud. Have a higher wrist position than I like and don't have a 3 under option. So was going to buy a stalker. To give that a go, was just deciding on limb. These days I am partial to longbows, but the static recurve limbs seem a popular choice. Thanks for everyone's input.

George..Let people ask "What do you think"questions, Not everyone like you has shot every bow, had supper with every bowyer. Like me in the south, I have to travel long distances to shoot bows..Plus if you take all the threads out about the "What" there would be no site to look at. Why do you think Reviews are important and popular.. Some of us do gleen from these threads..God Bless..

I have a Stalker Coyote FXT static recurve that I picked up directly from South a week ago. It is very fast and pretty quiet without silencers on it yet. Mine is 60"; 50#@28" and I draw 27". I was pleasantly surprised by it. Ken

With you Gradymaci… I can't remember the last bow I bought that I didn't ask the wisdom of the site for their opinion. I didn't listen to everybody... but enough guys say "the bow is fast..." or "the bow is quiet"... or "customer service was poor..." well that gets a seat at my decision-making table. It may not sit at the head of the table... but it's darn sure worth asking. I would think asking the boyer would be less valuable than asking it here. Of course the boyer is gonna say good things... here? You'll find critical views. Ask away...

It would be worthwhile calling South. I met him at a couple of trade shows and he’s very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He might be able to help narrow it down for you

The advances in r/d longbow limb design really don't give much of an edge to recurve limbs. Sounds like you're a longbow guy and maybe more happy with longbow limbs--- you won't be disappointed. I shot a coyote at Kalamazoo w recurve limbs--- good mass weight, quick and quiet--- but a different feel than my longbow.

South says the performance of his longbow limbs nearly match his recurve limbs.

Thanks guys for all the reply's. The great thing in Australia is we can hunt all year round. The bad thing here is the number of bows we can get our hands on to try before we buy. The selection is rather limited and I have tried everything I can, and brought what I want from that. That is why I am now looking at custom bows from the states. And as much as I really would love to hold the bow in my hands, all I have to go on is words, photos, and any videos I can find of people shooting them. But all great words that help me make up my mind. And the suggestion to reach out to Jack Spinks was great. Sure he is a left hander who lives 1000+ kilometres away. But made me think I really should try to meet up with a few of the Trad hunter's in my area. Most of my hunting is alone on my property. Or a flight to the other side of the country to hunt with my brother, who is a compound guy.
Also found a video of Jack Spinks shooting it with the static recurve limbs. Could not believe how quiet it was, you guys really were not joking.
Anyway it has only been 2 weeks since I brought my last bow, so why I save for the coyote I can think more about the limbs choice.
Thanks again for the replys
Regards Gavin

glad it was some help mate. Gather you must be on West coast? I actually build custom bows myself but owing to marriage breakup have had to lay off until I know where I am headed.

Go to Facebook and get on "Friends who love Stalker Stickbows" and pose your question. Also, give South Cox a call. He's a great guy to talk to. I believe he's as interested in learning from you as you are from him. I will testify that his recurves are surprisingly quiet.
