I spoke with someone close to Tred this evening.

It is true, Tred Barta has passed away from injuries received in an auto accident while driving home from Alaska. He was near Watson Lake close to the border of BC/Yukon.

There are no memorial plans at this time. Watch his Facebook page for details.

May God bless Him and may his memory be eternal. He has inspired a generation with his can do attitude.

Thanks Tred.

Frank

As a believer we should know that we don't get to choose the way we go or the time.

The Lord knows all and if one person gets saved by the way Tred went the Lord will use this.

We don't know if satan killed him but we do know what satan means for evil, God means for good. God still allowed it to happen the time and the way it may have that ended Treds life.

To die is gain and I'm sure probably Tred had cried out many times to our Lord in life to please bring him home. I sure know I have and each time shut up Glenn there's more for you to do so you draw up your boot straps and carry on.

I had another captain friend who was dragged over in heavy seas while wiring up a big mako. He drowned.

He came off the bridge his mate was having trouble bringing this beast to the boat and had the wire several times. He said get up on the wheel and grabbed the wire once the fish was fought back to the boat. Billy got the fish back to boat and nearly to gaff for his client again it was now or never when there was a big swell at the time the fish saw the boat again and dove and Billy Verbanis over the rail he went and drowned.

Billy sailed out of Delaware and had the charter boat Realistic. Billy was like Frank Mungus the Monster man famous shark fisherman out of Montauk NY.

Billy left a slew of kids fatherless. Billy floated up and they got him aboard but could not revive him on deck. By then the coast guard showed up but the basket kept getting hung up in boats antennas on the bridge. Seas were to big and severe conditions and Billy could not be medivaced.

Can you imagine the sail back home with Billy dead in the boat and the crew and the clients there with the beloved captains body. The client wanted the fish. the mate wanted to cut fish off due to conditions it was dangerous and Billy took a chance and his life was taken. Just that quick like a wisp. Life can be short for some.

I learned this will I had been sailing out to the Baltimore Canyon with my father. I was ruined the whole day both my brother and me . My dad didn't understand the relationship we had with Billy at some points in time.

Things happen at the most inopportune time in a lot of our lives.

Live ready because we don't know when it's our time.

Once saved is not always saved we are to be found working for the Lord when we are called home.

You have to be available for the Lord to work through us and even on our deathbeds we should be always talking to others about the father.

Rest on brothers see you on the other side.

He impressed me as a "Man's, Man. It was really refreshing to catch him on TV with his longbow and wood shafts with those big fletches. His mental toughness through his afflictions was a great example for all of us.

Treds grizzly hunt stands out in my mind with the moose hunt coming in second.getting that close to a griz with a backup shooter and camera guy on the last day is just amazing along with a little bit of luck. Certainly knew how to do it,.

They say Tred’s father was very tough too.

I was inspired by his drive and attitude.
