Greetings All,
I'm looking to see where you might be getting your heavy spine shafting from.
While I have enough 11/32 Doug Fir for a while, I cannot find anybody with this spine.
What else might you be using that spines this heavy and as nice to work with as Doug Fir?
Thanks in advance, Jason

So use 23/64. There's exactly 1/64" difference in the diameter. Or ask nadger where he gets the Western Larch.

Yes, 23/64 isnt a big deal. They work fine with points and nocks. Doug Fir is good stuff.

FDP and NY Yankee,
23/64" isn't the problem...it's finding heavy spine. My sources for Doug Fir cannot even get the spine in 23/64". I've searched a ton of places and the heavy spines aren't there. Thought I'd check in here and maybe find a source.
Does anybody know if Hildebrand is still in the shafting business? Their website has had the not taking new order message up for a long time...
Thanks Guys!
Jason

HAve you called Surewood? I'd say if anybody has them they do. Also, if you're interested in Cedar at all call Rose City and talk to tjem. Sometimes they have weights they don't list.

Last time I inquired about heavy spine like that I was told I could get on a waiting list. That was Rose City. You might have to go hardwoods. Forester is the man here.

I use hickory regardless of the spine I need, I just prefer it, but I've made a lot of 11/32 hickory arrows with 80,85,90 lb spine, and that's after I single or breast taper them. And yes, I check every one. I used to get them from Allegheny Mountain Arrow Woods, but he sold out to Kootenai River Arrows, but I don't see hickory on their website. Now I just make my own.

Surewood always has those and they don’t lie about the spine they are right on.
