I wanted one of those so bad when they came back out. I would like to hear what you thought of them. Thanks

I don't own one, but have shot them and you couldn't give me one. Loud and the only bow that I've ever shot that had enough hand shock to be physically uncomfortable to shoot. You'll have plenty of people disagree with me, but in my opinion they are dogs. In fact, when shooting one at a show one time a rep for a major trad company that sells Bear bows laughed as I walked by and said get ready to have your teeth rattle when shooting that bow. He was right. Lol

The old ones were shocky as well I think it’s the weight at the tips

I was going to shoot one at ETAR glad i did not now

Was really bummed when I had a trade deal fall through to get a 50#er. Now I feel better about it lol.

Mine shoots great. With the right arrows its quiet even without silencers. As for hand shock I dont feel any. No where near to an asl in shock. My only gripe is the typical horizontal hazing in limb finish. Not as bvb ad as the old BBC ears but it's there none the less.

I have one. If you shoot 15 gpi it calms down a touch. The limb tip weight has little to do with hand shock. Its the design of the bow and how its limbs bend/work that does that. I added a skinny BCYX string to mine and it helped a bunch. That said, they are cool as ever to look at. I'd sell mine in a flash as I NEVER shoot it. Looks like new still, except I put a respectable leather grip on it.

I disagree with all of the naysayer's I don't know where they're coming from. I LOVE mine, good cast, quiet, and no hand shock. It gives an "oldtimey" feeling when you shoot one

I have an original that shoots great. It's weight is 47#, and I shoot 500 grain arrows. I also have a quiver on it and a beefy string. Mine is very quiet, quick and comfortable. Mine is braced at 7.25".

I think there are some old threads about them when they were being re-released.

great classic bow design with modern materials ! I got to get modern K-4

I tried one out, shot real good. Didn't care for the hand shock. I'm sure with some tweeking and twerking I could make it feel better.

You guys do know it's a replica of the old model and not a super recurve guaranteed to be smooth and gentle. The old ones I shot were fine and one of the quietest bows next to an ASL. Not sure what you expected but they are what they are, and bows advanced beyond that style for a reason. I like them, but wouldn't pay the price of a new one just to sit on the rack most of the time.

I haven’t shot a new one but none of my old ones have handshock and are sweet shooters. If I get the chance to purchase a new one I won’t hesitate. Lance

I shot one at ETAR last year--fortunately the Bear folks have lefty bows to try. With the rather bad arthritis in the pointer finger base knuckle on my bow hand, hand shock is a very serious matter to me. I can't shoot my ASLs more than about 6 shots before pain makes me hang them back up. The K4 did not bother me at all. :o)

I was really excited to get one but after having the chance to test one out I was not impressed. A neat bow but kind of a dog imo

From: David Mitchell

What were you comparing it to? It is an older bow design and ought to be judged as such--not compared to current, more developed, bow performance.

From: PEARL DRUMS

It gets so confusing when SO many try to tell us custom bows are no better than old factory bows and that bow design hasn't evolved since 1974. You know who are :)

From: Sarge

If you look at Rons form it explains a lot. He is not muscleing the Bow, he has the Bow shoulder down and bone on bone contact in his bow arm and is not overgripping the Bow. You can get shock out of any bow if you try to overpower them. Shalom

I shot one on two different occasions and really liked it.

From: Dry Bones

Sarge I agree, you can make any bow shockey if you squeeze it tight enough. I had to learn that the hard way. Ron's picture does like nice, but one thing bothers me.. He is drawing with the wrong hand. That can't be tolerated in trad archery... Ron, I am completely joking about the hand situation.

I have an original 50’s K4, and earlier this year when I was shooting it, I did not notice any hand shock. I could feel something when the arrow was released, but it wasn’t what I would call hand shock. Earlier this week I tried to shoot it, but could not get it to full draw, due to my being sick with bronchitis for one month, and then dealing with a pinched nerve in my left leg. Now that my leg is getting better. I have to work at building up to it’s draw weight(80# @28”). If I live long enough, I would like to get one in the 50-60# range.

I like it. As George said, it’s a reproduction of a 65 year old design. Got a little thump to it, not a speed demon but it’ll get the job done.

Cameron, That looks REALLY nice.
