Just picked up a New A Riser. Set up with #1 limbs. What brace height are most of you running? Iv been between just under 8 all the way to 8 3/4 . I really dont notice any difference. Tuning has been real easy, just want some other opinions an tips.

Bear recommends 7 3/4-8 3/4 for that riser/limb combination 56 inches. I run about 8 inches. brace height on mine.

Mine are set at 8 ¼“. With two puff balls spaced at ¼ top, 1/3 bottom and some padding at the limb tips they are very quiet.

Less, or shorter brace height equals more speed out of the bow. But there is no free lunch...at some point it will get noisy. What I do is drop it down until the bow starts to get noisy and then go back up just until it stops. That way you are getting the most speed but not making a bunch of noise. Going further up in brace height than what you need takes away speed. When you do it this way it depends on the bow and the limbs, so to just throw out an arbitrary number...yeah, it will shoot, but it wont be optimum. Then you start getting into "define optimum"...for me it is speed and quiet all I can get of both, for some it might be most forgiving shot. In that case you might want to start at 8". Most of mine run around 7 1/2"-7 3/4". The real problem is getting a string that will allow you to do all this. You almost have to make your own or order a custom for $30.00 each. The last five strings I bought for bows I have all had way more brace height than I would ever run completely untwisted, like 8 3/4".

Good information. I just ordered the same set-up, so I can all the info I can get.

CW. You will love it. I have a B riser as well, but prefer the A a little more I believe

Thanks GrizzerBear. I'm an old guy and grew up with Bear bows. I always wanted a Bear takedown but never got around to getting one. It's a retirement present to myself.

Never paid much attention with mine with either the No. 1 or 3 limbs. Ten Ring Fury strings with good puff silencers.

If its not broke leave it alone.

Everyone is different. All anyone can tell you is a range. I say just shoot the lowest setting that shoots well for you and is quiet.

Just shot my bow today. I set the brace height at the lowest recommended, and it was very quite. I shot three different arrow spines, and they all flew good. I will post some pics and more results once I have time. For now, I am satisfied.
