A unique bow with striking features, this bow combines a flawless osage stave with sturgeon skin accents, a tanned beaver tail handle wrap and buffalo horn overlays carefully carved to look like arrowheads. It is 64" long and pulls 45#@28". It has a smooth draw and a quick, snappy cast. It would be a perfect deer hunting bow or an everyday shooter.

Wellin you like building bows reversing the bow layout on the stave. Belly of stave to the back of the bow. I can see the sip factor. Had any failures on the out side edges of the limbs? Been told that puts more tension on the outside edges. Arvin

I thought sturgeons grew bigger ;^)
Nice bow, Weylin.
Arvin, I don't think that's what's going on there. It looks like the outside of the stave is the back of the bow, as is normally done, but the outermost growth ring on the bow's back is simply concave as it grew, in some areas. Yes, those tension stresses are theoretically still greater there along those 'turned up' edges, but I've never had one let go in such a place because of it.

Thanks for the kind words. This bow is for sale in the classifieds, if you're interested. Shoot me a message if you want more info.
Arvin, I can see why it would seem like I did it reversed but Jeff described it exactly right. Some staves have areas of concavity on their backs. I've never had issue with it.
