This was a custom bow made from a premium stave of Pacific yew. The bow is 66" long and pulls 47#@26". It's backed with sturgeon skin, both for aesthetics and for durability. The handle wrap is tanned beaver tail and the tip overlays are buffalo horn. It is finished with tru oil and the string is D97 fastflight.

Super cool. I always appreciate folks that can produce things like that beautiful bow. I'm way more comfortable with an 8 lb hammer in my hand.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate all the kind words.
2bears, Carp can make a good backing. I'v en never used it but seen it used to good effect. definitely a different look than sturgeon but pretty in it's own right.
Bernie P., The first sturgeon backed bow I saw was in John Strunk's living room. It was inspiring. He was one of my early teachers.
Jim Keller, My channel is called Swiftwood Bows. Glad to have you follow along.

OK .. I suspect I'm going against the grain ... but ....
that's a stunning, beautiful bow in every aspect .. except the fish skin ... Less is more on that bow, the contrast of the sap and heart wood, the beaver tail and the horn nocks are beautiful accents .... but the fish skin ... nah it doesn't work for me
but I'll say again ... that is a beautiful bow

Beautiful bow.
The first sturgeon skin backed bow I ever saw was in 1985. It was an English style Yew bow with the classic horn nocks. It was made by my friend Norm Blaker. At the time I was impressed that someone would make a bow with Sturgeon skin back
