I don't know what's up with Thunder Valley archery. They seem to stock a full line of Magnus glue on heads. Are they really Magnus or are they copies?

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Thunder Valley quit the business several years ago. I do believe it was for sale as well. It was discussed here at the time and for months after. Anyway, they still pop up over on Ebay now and again, but there are other heads that will work just fine if you can't find them.

Thundervalley? Yes they were real Magnus heads, they bought the Magnus glue on traditional part of the company, ran it for a few years, then shut it down several years ago. They should pull that website down. It's misleading folks to believe they're still making and selling those heads.

Nobody is currently making and selling Magnus glue on heads. You'll have to try to find leftovers at a supply company, or hoarded heads someone is willing to let go of, or like George said, try something else.

Well, if they meant lifetime of the company, I made out. I still have dozens of them new in the package. They'll probably surpass my lifetime too.

See my post above...it is the third one down. They had them in stock. I provided you a link to their site.

I'd love to see someone start up with the 130-160grain MagnusI heads with the 1.5" cut. That's the head that needs to be made. In those specific weights.

From: raghorn

I doubt the Magnus is being made in Australia. They probably have some NOS in inventory.

From: Babysaph
Date: 06-Jul-19

I always thought the lifetime warrant was just a sales approach. I don't think any company can warranty anything for a lifetime without being overpriced to begin with. Most people won't send a broadhead back but there are enough people out there that sent those things back that it had to effect the bottom line. I knew a guy that bought six heads and never had to buy another one because he sent em back . Now that is just plain wrong. That being said I still have a couple dozen

I’d love to know what happened to Magnus exactly. I’ve called biscuit over a dozen times and left messages. No return call. Isn’t there SOMEONE on here that knows him personally? Or is the whole thing some big secret?

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Preston, take a look at the Ace Standard, which comes in the weights you like. Also, check Ebay now and then. The Ace are as good as any and more affordable than most, and you can buy them right from the folks that make them.

Tuskers [or formerly Davies Broadheads ] were being manufactured in AU since the 60/70s so they are not a Magnus ripoff. There was a dealer importing Magnus and I would say they gained in popularity so Abbey Archery stocked them. Incidently Abbey are the biggest Australian Archery dealer. Having owned both I would pursue the Magnus over Tuskers or better still Stos Broadheads [and we all know what STOS means] Shaftcaster >>-->

Sir miss a lot. I have the 160 Magnus and bleeder blades. Have any 175 vpa broad heads to trade.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 07-Jul-19

Ripoff is a strange term when applying it indiscriminately. And it's usually wrong. The Tuskers have been around longer than Magnus, so who is ripping off whom. Ace has been around since the early 1900's, well before any other American manufactured broadhead, and I consider them as good as any made. You have to sift through the rhetoric for sure, but there are many great heads still being made.

I bought 6 Magnus heads and shot a deer with one. The deer was laying down and I hit it in the spine and the arroiw bounced off, the tip had made a double curl, the deer was wounded before I shot it and I had to pursue it more and shoot it with a different head . I also had another popular broadhead mentioned on here that I shot a hog and a javelin with and both of those heads broke . Both broadheads had a lifetime warranty but what would I want to send them in and get repalcements for if they weren't any good the first time . I guess lifetime warranty is only good for the lifetime of the company !

One thing to keep in mind the magnus classic broadhead May be currently not available but the original company which is magnus outdoor products is still doing great! I started magnus in 1984 and 2020 will be our 36th year since I started magnus. The biggest issue in making a traditional glue on type broadhead is the scrap you have after get after going thru the heat treat process, plus the traditional glue on heads are very labor intensive.

What type of heads does Magnus Outdoor Products sell??

From: MikeSohm/Magnus
Date: 28-Jan-20

Magnus Outdoor Products is Magnus broadheads. I started Magnus broadheads in 1984 under the name of Magnus Archery Company. We make broadheads full time and have a complete line of 2 blade, 3 blade and 4 blade broadheads all which are dialed in on a dial indicator so the total tip runout is .003 thousands or less. You can view our complete line of broadheads at magnusbroadheads.com Thank you

Tim Finley-one thing i forgot to mention in my post previously.I have bowhunted for 40 years and have made broadheads for 36 years, No broadhead made today,or yesterday or forever will be or is indestructible. Our lifetime replacement guarantee which we were the first broadhead company to ever offer a lifetime replacement guarantee is a no hassle lifetime replacement guarantee. Take a picture of the damaged broadhead and email us with your name and address and we replace.

The demise of the Magnus glue on heads should be a lesson... if you find something in particular you really like, be it broadheads, boots, a knife or a hand tool... stock up if feasible, because they could be gone tomorrow.

From: dnovo Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 29-Jan-20

Between the Magnus I heads I have and the Zwickey Delta I have way more broadheads than I’ll use up the rest of my life. Only way is if I get on a couple hunting trips where I get to shoot a couple dozen animals each time and don’t recover any heads.

From: Sawtooth (Original) Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 29-Jan-20

I have enough Mag I’s and II’s to last me a long while. But I think it’s a shame that one of the best traditional heads in archery just vanished. SURELY someone has the savvy and business acumen to bring this exceptional broadhead line back to market. Jeff D. makes a great point.

From: David McLendon

Fortunately I stocked up on Magnus 160's and Snuffer 160's in a big way at the first mention that they both might be going under, and continued to buy off the auction site and RMS after they did.

Their demise was telegraphed well in advance to anybody that was paying attention and anybody that wanted them had more than adequate time to stock up.

Maybe Snuffer will come back but I doubt that the Magnus Classics will.

The success of VPA will supppress the likelihood of a Snuffer revival even though they don't have anything that matches it.
