I'll be there for several days. Its very relaxing and the 3D courses are some of the best.

From: Herbie

Looking forward to seeing many friends...but they are not old friends.

From: PEARL DRUMS
Date: 11-Jun-19

Kurt a lot depends on the weather. When its smoking hot building a bow isn't on top of my list, sitting still usually is :) Often times its crazy hot and humid and that's just not good weather for bending wood.

I gotta make it to a shoot this summer, stuff keeps getting in the way. Is this primitive only or can I bring a glass bow?

From: PEARL DRUMS
Date: 11-Jun-19

Elm Hall isn't specific to any style bow, they are all welcome.

Is that you in your underwear in the pond?

Don't think you know it yet but there's going to be a rock climbing wall for kids young and old as a little but of something extra in the way of entertainment for this 30th anniversary shoot.

Rocky

While its hard to believe, I know, I have recently spoken to some "dyed in the wool" trad shooters that have never been to the Pine River Stickbow Shoot! Guess they don't know that if there is a shoot that will sharpen your skills as a trad bowhunter its the Elm Hall shoot. A couple of years ago there was a bear wandering the course and last year a big gobbler opened up close to us when we were shooting......you guessed it, a strutting tom target! It was wayyyy cool! If you go out to shoot early or late you need to check the targets closely cause they just might be real critters. This isn't a quiet stroll through wide groomed paths either. Its the real deal. Bring your "A" game and lots of arras. Cause this shoot will mess w/ your head. One of our favorite shoots for sure. Then there is the meal on Saturday night too. Good fixins. This year is the 30th for Pine River and the following w/e is the 35th GLLI. As far as trad archery goes in MI, the only thing better would be to put October first in the middle of that wk!!

From: Herbie
Date: 01-Jul-19

tkyelp...that was a fine description of the Elm Hall Shoot and the GLLI with all it has to offer is very fun as well!

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 02-Jul-19

Yep well said Floyd. Pappy

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 11-Jul-19

Great Eddie, glad you are going to make it. Pappy

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 12-Jul-19

He isn't sure yet, he has a new baby on the way and has to see how that is going at the time. Bill/Brandon/Mike Scott and several more are coming, I think we have at least 7 or 8 going to make it at different time through the week. Pappy

From: tkyelp Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 14-Jul-19

For those of you who are coming from a distance these two shoots back to back are worth the price of admission. This is an anniversary year for Pine River as well as the GLLI. There will be special events at both shoots. Many just move their camp from Elm Hall down the road to Hastings. Beautiful country and a relaxing atmosphere........until Thursday of both weeks. Then things will be hopping! If you are a traditional shooter, it just don't get much better!!

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 14-Jul-19

Yep Kurt most show up through the week.Talked to Rocky this morning and he said they had 2 great days of working and had about everything ready for us to come and enjoy, can hardly wait.thanks to Rocky and all the guys at Elm Hall , they put in a lot of time and effort to make sure all their guest have a great time. Pappy

From: southpaw shooter

July 20th is a great shoot in Barryton mi as well. Get family event.

From: Rocky
Date: 15-Jul-19

Thanks Pappy,

Most of the work is done by the other guys, 9 on Saturday and more than a dozen on Sunday. Too many to name but you and they know who they are, and they deserve the credit. It's been a wet year but and the courses are a little different due to the condition of the woods but both will be NICE! We do it for our old friends and new ones we haven't even met yet. It's all good, can't wait to see all of you guys and gals.

We're headed to Barryton to shoot this weekend before the real work starts for us.

Rocky

But the Elm hall shoot is by all means an absolutely amazing place.... food, family and stick bows. Life is amazing.

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 16-Jul-19

I know what you are saying Rocky about all that are involved, you are just kind of the face of it but for sure don't want to leave any of the others out, we all know what it takes to put on these events, it takes us all.See ya in 13 days. Pappy

From: Rocky
Date: 16-Jul-19

And we have some awesome ladies helping too Pappy. We couldn't get by without them.

From: Pappy 1952
Date: 17-Jul-19

I hear ya, us also. How is the weather looking, hope cooler than here in Tennessee, last I looked , it looked to be nice High in the high 70's to low 80's and lows in the 50's. Don't really matter we will deal with it but would be nice for us to get to cool down a bit. See ya in 12 days. Pappy
