I'm hurting right now over the loss of my dog, Murph. Had to put him down due to cancer in his femur bone. Last six days were tough to watch. Pain even on pain pills, -trying to walk on three good legs while weak, not eating hardly at all, limited interaction with his loving humans because it hurt to just rub his back and side. Even if this hurts it was worth loving him for 6 years. Guess I just needed to talk about it and know that a bunch of you fellas will understand.

I do understand, Prayers to healing memories of good times with your friend, we as people go through a lot of pets in our lifetime and some very special ones, Hard to let go, think of the Good times and what was best to stop their pain.

It is a hard loss, and leaves a void. I totally get it. My dog of 15 years had to be put down a few weeks back

From: JusPassin Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Yup, lost my Cur two weeks back and still not over it. Feel your pain and loss.

From: MStyles

So sorry for your loss. As his owner, that stewardship comes down to the day you do what is best for them. They take a piece of your heart with them when they leave, that’s why it hurts. So when that day comes, Murph will be waiting for you. He’ll be happy to give that piece of your heart back to you and make your reunion that much more special.

From: Kwikdraw
Date: 10-Jun-19

Truly sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all too well, and yes the Rainbow Bridge does await, but I'll take the losses of my best dog friends to my grave. And at the same time remember the wonderful times w/ them as well!

The Bible says two sparrows sell for a coin of small value but that God takes notice of it when they pass. And they belong to no one, so there has to be future comfort when losing a pet brings us so much pain. Sorry for your present pain.

From: COknuckledragger
Date: 11-Jun-19

Newt, My prayers are with you and yours in your loss. Try to take comfort in knowing that Murph loved being a part of your life and is forever appreciative of all the love you gave to him... 'Til you meet again!

From: JayInOz
Date: 11-Jun-19

Sorry to hear it Newt. Been through it too many times. Had to do the deed for my wifes old dog a few weeks ago. We both knew it had to be done but held off as long as we could. Wife said her goodbyes and told me to get it over with. I came inside to put the rifle away and my old darlin is standing at the stove cooking my dinner with tears running down her face. Made me feel like a proper turd. My last dog got run over by our only neighbor! The one before that got bitten by an eastern brown snake- second most venomous in the world. From bit to buried in twenty minutes. Got another little pooch now- just a matter of time 'til we go through it all again. JayInOz

Your killing me Lefty with that especially the setter. I'm so screwed up still over Abigail my setter that stayed till I started getting better. Then she hung around for a couple months more her spirit. Abigail will never be gone to much her and I went through. One time she pulled me out of sink hole that was in a little water ditch I tried to cross. Countless other times her and I went through things out just her an I gunning. She saw over 2,000 birds both wild and penned in her carrier.

My new dog comes after Oct 15 th she's away in training and I hope Bandit is half as good as Abby was.

So sorry for your loss I certainly know what your going through I'm still going through it from back in Feb.

Lord watch over this fellow and help him cope with the sorrow of his loss. If the time deems right to get another dog may it fill the void the other dog had left behind. Lord you know how dear our animals are to us and we take care of them while they are with us for a short time and then you get them Lord.

My Abby is in the golden fields of glory waiting patiently for me on point. I just hope she isn't upset and think I am cheating on her with a new dog. She knows I'm putting a lot into this dog in a last horah.

I have pictures in my phone of Abby and look at them all the times as well as a wallpaper of my dog on my phone she lives on in my heart and mind let them rest in peace until we get to see them again.

I just love my dogs. I have a 12 1/2+ year old Borderlab mix. Best dog I ever had so far :-) I found out that he has a neurological disease. Originally we thought it was hip dysplasia but other signs showed up. His days are running short. I will be there for him. He will let me know when. Then I will move on, carry his memories with me forever :-) Then I'll find a new friend, wouldn't be the same without them. JF

We lost our lab last November and it hurt like heck. He's buried at the lower end of our property, within sight of the back porch, and we keep two little solar garden lights there. Yep...it's hard.

From: Gifford

Many of us have been where you are now. The pain is real, the loss is devastating. But take comfort knowing that they are not gone, they have just moved on and crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They are all there waiting for us to join them.

There are many lonely dogs, languishing in pounds, animal shelters and with one the many rescue groups. They are waiting to come home with and help fill the void. This is their wish, and they can perform the their task admirably.

The setter by door really choked me up, who ever wrote expressed it better than I ever could have.

This is about the only relief I have found for losing a "best friend".

Of course this always sets you up for another "big disappointment" down the road.

And I accept that.

OMG they are gorgeous. I was thinking how Bart at Grouse ridge is going to feel when he turns over bandit to me after Oct 13 th some time. Its coming down to getting near and I am getting ready.

That's an incredible bunch. The 1rst and 3rd are my favorites.
