While tracking a wounded deer on the show, one of the wardens commented that shooting a deer at ten yards with a bow is not good because the arrow does not have enough time to pick up enough speed to be effective.

Northwest Law and Northwoods Law seem bent on portraying hunters as outlaws, rarely show us in a positive light. Very one-sided and disturbing. "Wardens", on one of the outdoor channels, does a much better job of showing hunters obeying the law and conducting themselves in an ethical manner. Well, N.W. Law is on the Discovery Channel, so go figure. Hmmm.

I watch all these shows. If there wasn't so much illegal activity these wouldn't exist. We live in an increasingly lawless society encompassing all aspects of American life.

Firstly, these programs are reruns from a few years ago. I remember watching that and went right to the computer and found an email for them. I told them they needed to study-up on archery, as well as physics and learn what arrows do...particularly from compound bows. I tried to be nice about it but never got a return email. I also told them that unethical hunters were in the minority and not the norm, just like lousy wardens. Maybe that's why they didn't return my email.

If I remember correctly, two wardens were trying to charge a young guy for poaching a deer. He took them back in the woods where he shot it and showed them where he stood. They didn't believe him, because NOBODY hunts from the ground and as stated above, 10 yards is just too close for the arrow to straighten out. While they were there the guy found his blood covered arrow and there was no way he could have gotten back in there and planted it. So they scratched there heads and let him go. They looked like they were old enough to know better. bvd

Batman, the wardens imo were at fault. They tried so hard to be the voice of authority they “didn’t know what they didn’t know. “ Remember that quote it pertains to everyone. Now years back I started a hunt 1/2 hr before sunrise. The CO came in and wanted to ticket me for hunting too early. I explained the compendium showed 1/2 hr before sunrise was legal light. Guy went nuts, I should know better, ignorance is no excuse. He took some of my gear n lead me out of the woods. Very dictator like he pointed at the law book. Started to read it, stopped n said “oh yea you’re right”. Told me to leave n he took off w my gear never to return. Blew my whole morning. Wouldn’t you think something so simple would be something he’d know

The above tv episode occurred in New Hampshire. The wardens they show from Maine, Texas and Washington state seem to have more on the ball. bvd

Most WARDEN Shows on the Outdoor Channel are bs..... with 32 years on the job I should know something,,,,

MI does a decent job, its all about tourism etc.... Wisconsin does not allow the show to be shot in their state....

Montana is another state, that wants the show for promotion

When you look at New Hampshire,, and Maine on the outdoor channel, they seem to hate anyone that hunts,, which goes along with what they want to promote

Worst thing to happen to a great profession

But I hear those wardens state all the time they hunt and love hunting, you mean they are lying? lol next time I use a chronograph I'll make sure to place it at 50 yards, tht way my arrow should be doing 300 fps.

I don't watch Reality TV police shows. I lived it for 25 years, 3 days and 6 hours.
