I did some research in the old posts and I'm still unclear on what year my bow is. It has the original Wing Logo but has an RA serial number.

Yours is mid 1967 right around the switch to Head Ski. You have a Head Ski serial number yet still that Div of Head Ski has not been added to the Silk Screen Wing logo.
I would say your bow was made within days of the switchover.

Thanks for the confirmation. From what I was seeing in the old posts there were bows with new logo and old serial numbers. I guess they went both ways with them during transition.

My son bought one that had 2 cracks in the riser. Must have happened early on, because other than the cracks the bow is mint.It is an earlier model.I repaired the cracks, and the bow shoots great.52 lbs. at 28 inches, and is a fast ,smooth bow.

I'll remember that Rural America one. Am I thinking correct that these usually have a pretty high brace height, like 8 1/2" or more?

I just bought a Gull from the same era and all the research I did the gull and other wings said 8 - 9" brace height.

I always forget about the vintage site that has the old catalogs. I checked the 1967 catalog and for the Red Wing Hunter it shows 8 1/4" to 9 1/4".

I'm hunting a near identical one in 51#. (RW17506) It's an ideal whitetail bow.

I knew you would like that bow when I traded it to you. That is a great feeling bow with a powerful punch. I should have mentioned I was told it was a '67 I hope you enjoy it. Thanks again

I noticed recently an AMF Wing that was labeled Wing Hunter. Is it different than a Red Wing Hunter?

This was my first hunting bow when I was a kid. Think I bought it for $25 from a pawn shop in 1984. Have no idea about when it was made but it is a fun bow to shoot.

Okie that is definitely a RWH but never seen just the Wing Hunter decal nor that type of serial numbering. It should be R-3-500 or RAA-3-500.
Pghrich yours is a transition bow just before ahead Ski takeover, early 1967

Kelly I just bought it on the big auction site so I’ll get a better look at it in a few days. It appears to have the factory quiver bushings like the Slim Line bows on the back of the riser. Was that typical of the AMF Red Wing Hunters or an option?

The quiver bushings started with Head Ski and continued under AMF on all hunting bows.

My old Red Wing Hunter was the first real bow I ever bought. I bought it used from a co-worker back about 1975. He bought it new and sold it to me when he made the switch to a wheel bow. Mine has the serial number RW 16208, the tiny limb tips and the logos look real similar to the bow in Okiecntry's pictures. It's a 58 inch bow and draws 45 lbs. @ 28 inches.

Sammy, your bow is from 1966 based on serial number but the tiny tips were from earlier bows. Without a picture of the handle wood and tips I can’t be sure as there is very clear differences about the “tiny” tipped RWH of the early models and those pictured here. None of the above have “tiny” tips.
