Southern Traditional Archery Association will be hosting our annual Catch A Dream benefit shoot June 22-23 in the Persimmon Hill campground on Enid Lake in north Mississippi. 25 target multi round course and a 10 target Cry Baby range. There will be an auction Saturday night along with dinner. This is always a really fun shoot and a great place to come camp for the weekend. It also helps out a fantastic organization. For more information, feel free to reach out to me. Kevin Brown at [email protected].

Guys this is a great shoot, and the money that Southern Traditional Archery raises, is for a wonderful cause. If you want to have a good time shooting your Longbow,Recurve or Selfbow then you should come to the STA Enid Lake shoot. They always have hamburgers and hotdogs for sale and plenty of drinks.
Please spread the word. Southern Traditional Archery Association Catch-A-Dream benefit shoot at Enid Lake Mississippi June 22-23.

On the cry baby range you shoot at 10 or more small animal targets at less than 15 yards, they are positioned behind and through so much brush that you think hitting one is impossible but everyone is doable it you are a contortionist and creative on making your shots.

The course winds through mostly open, fairly hilly, hardwoods. It’s a fun, but challenging course that includes 2 moving targets. The campground on Enid Lake is a Corp of engineers campground and has excellent facilities. It’s a great place to spend the weekend.

Persimmon Hill is the best campground I have ever camped in. I just checked and there are a few campsites still available but a lot are already reserved.
This a Corp of Engineers campground with full hookups. Lots of room and concrete pads for every campsite.
If you have a Parks and Recreation senior pass you can camp for half price or $9 a night

If you rent a pad and only want to pitch a tent or two you can have up to 12 people tent camping on each site. There is plenty of room plus a grill, fire ring and a picnic table on each site.

Matt, I believe it’ll be $25 to shoot all weekend. This is a multi round shoot so shoot as many times as you want with the best score counting. The Cry Baby is a separate event and is $10/round. We will have dinner avaiSaturday night and an auction after that.

John, maybe Kevin will respond shortly. I know they have Longbow, Recurve and selfbow class in Men, Women and youth. Recurve and longbow any arrow material can be used. Selfbow use to be wood only, not sure about now.
It was also no elevated rest or release devices of any type.

John, we have classes for men, women for recurve, longbow and selfbow. We also have classes for youth and seniors. Typically, for those two classes, we don’t break them down in recurve/longbow since we don’t usually have enough people in them to justify it.. As far as equipment goes, no sights, but that’s about it. This shoot is about raising money for Catch A Dream. Unless you show up with a compound, we can accommodate you. Actually, we will even let the youth shoot their NASP bows if they want.

The bridge by the hatchery and north end of the dam is out. If you're coming from I55 it's about a 10 minute detour taking the next exit to the north.

Last time I tried to follow the detour at the hatchery I ended up 5 miles out in the middle of nowhere on a two lane road with a 32' fifth wheel in tow in the pouring rain. Fortunately while I was stopped at the entrance of another campground across the lake from Persimmon hill two guys came along, noticed my predicament and offered to guide me back to Persimmon Hill, it was a long winding road with multiple turns to get back.
The next time I went to the shoot I took the first exit to Enid Lake like I did before but turned right at the access road instead of going back across the interstate, I went a short distance and turned left on the two lane. It was a couple of miles SE to the first left and the road that took you right to the entrance of Persimmon Hill campground. The road is marked as going to Enid Lake, it might be 1/2 mile from the two lane to the entrance to the campground. Where you turn there is a church on one corner and an old gas station turned thrift shop on the other.

You can take exit 227 and go west to the 4-way stop at hwy 51. Go north on 51 for a few miles then turn right at the sign that say Enid dam. This will take you over I-55 and straight into the park. Really easy.
