It's now been 42 days in the Casto TP drill program. Since starting the program on March 22nd I have drawn the bow 1298 times and released 64 arrows.

There is no doubt of the effectiveness of the program. Since beginning the program I can say that "almost" every vestige of TP is gone. But not all!

I'm trying not to over analyse this but I noticed a slight fracturing of focus when an arrow was to be shot as opposed to simply letting down. It came to me on about the 38th day that it was not truly a break down of focus but a shift of focus. I was shifting my primary focus from the POA to anticipating watching the flight of the arrow. Once that was realized I was able to maintain focus. But, It's not easy.

It's another flaw in my shooting that is identified and needs to be dealt with.

Days 43 through 63 involve more releasing of arrows than the first 42 so there will be more opportunities to fine tune.

There is no doubt in my mind that TP is a breakdown of focus and form. So far the program has resulted in solidifying my form and while focus may still be an issue to be dealt with, I'm confident that I will be successful.

More to come once day 63 is completed.

Keep at it and keep us posted. I had the same thing happen to me and I stalled a little until i felt comfortable moving to the nect step.

I did Jim's program--I was one of the first "guinea pigs" I guess you could say. I am so thankful I did. I do agree with you on the transition to releasing the arrow. Any change will cause a bit of change in focus, but stick with it and only move ahead as you feel comfortable.

I’m doing it now and I actually wondered about that. Thought about using a clicker to initiate release but wouldn’t do that without asking Jim what he thinks.

Smokedinpa, the program material has Jim's email and phone and he would be glad to hear from you and answer any questions you have.

Sometimes he joins in these topics too.

I have come to realize that ole Jim knows a lot about this stuff and most archery related topics. I want to try it as soon as my shoulder heals.

Smokedinpa,

I would not recommend using a non-anticipatory trigger of any kind—at least, not yet. Gaining control is the first step. Once that’s accomplished the introduction of a clicker may be beneficial—or not.

Longcruise,

21 days, 42 days, or 63 days really don’t mean much. It’s really a suggestion and regimen to get you started toward deliverance from the demon. A lot of folks will “read” the drills, and then start the program, but very few will “study” the drills and follow the advice throughout.

From the document itself:

“Before you begin, you’ll have to ask yourself if you’re willing to spend at least 63-days (maybe more) on a STRICT regimen of drills…”

“Depending on how badly you’re afflicted with this devil, you may not be able to advance, or extend your distance as quickly, or feel as comfortable as we'd like. So.... if at any time you’re not comfortable, slow up and go back to the previous step. We’re in no hurry here; stay with it—you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. NEVER stress yourself; don’t let any anxiety come it. Stay where you are, or go back a step or two. Do NOT try to advance until you KNOW you’re ready to.”

“You must NEVER try to advance beyond your COMPLETE control. You have to pay the price and it'll be worth it in the end--trust me.”

“***If at any time the anxiety creeps back in, just go back to the previous step. Repeat it until it's gone, then advance to the next.”

Some folks like David Mitchell and Jim Keller have had success in 63 days; others have taken longer--some much longer. Many have reported freedom from the demon; others have reported control over him. The end result is the same. SUCCESS!

:^)

Thanks

No hiccups yet to report, so onward.

I did 63 days "by the book" but I expect to continue to practice those drills for the future. Reinforcement is good.

Thanks for that reminder, Jim. I am not going to go into any of my thoughts on 63 days until I'm done with it but I'm already realizing some benefit from being able to shoot more arrows.
