A month ago we had some rough stuff come through. One of my work properties took a direct hit. It was a beautiful dense pine thicket...

I'm not as techno advanced as some of you so I will have to do "a pic a post."

Not all dead pines are exactly "soft" wood..

More of what used to be a dense forest.

Yes it does make it hard to get around, but it also gives opportunity for some unorthodox shots.

Bigger Oak for a natural creek crossing.

I had hoped to run into some super sized rodents but alas today was not my day for that.

A nice finish with a mimosa in full bloom.

Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing. I need to find me a place here around Dallas to do that.

Where is the place at. Tornados came within a few miles of my place on 21 NE of Crockett. Across the Neches River bottoms and on to Alto. Laid them down.

The property is about 5-6 miles east of Crockett just off of Hwy 21. Two separate confirmed tornadoes crossed our place. The rest of the story- My wife and kids were at the Cado Mounds Historic Site that morning, and deiced to leave between hail storms. No sooner did they get home than we found out the Cado mounds had been demolished. Definitely had some knee mail afterwards.

Dang that place did take a beating didn't it? We didn't get any of those here in my part of the Hill Country..

Wood shafts and cartridge casings for ammo? How’d they hold up? I’ve found that ‘natural’ pine stumps rot wonderfully into awesome targets. A stump from a cut down tree turns rock hard. I suppose a blown down tree is somewhere in between. Thanks for sharing. Glad your family is safe.

Ralph, that was the only casing that bent. For whatever reason unknown to me, that was one hard tree. I agree with you as to the pine stumps usually work out well, and I shot a few others. The casing on it's own is way to light for my taste, with the help of another waller, I have made weight appropriate "blunts." My scale allows me to weigh within .1 grains, so any error in tip weight is strictly my own, but it allows me to make blunts that fly right with my other arrows.

Bones. My wife and I left our place about 15 miles from Crockett on 21 about 10 am. We started to stop at Caddo Mounds but it had just started raining and we had a long way to go. I feel for all the people that were there, but glad we weren't. Didn't get any damage at our place.

Those pics remind me of western Miss after Hurricane Katrina. It was a shame to see all those hardwoods destroyed.

76Aggie, the only time I have seen anything like this was outside of Lake Charles after the hurricane. I was in college then and had to evacuate. Big hardwoods, pines or anything else in the path is destroyed, the storms discriminate not.
