I got my self a Bob Lee stock bow. Reason being, I wanted it now!

I shot it for a week and Then needed some Custom limbs. Turns out you have to send back The handle/riser!

What could I do? I'm hooked! It grouped nocks off!

I sent it back with a tear in my eye. But what I get back will mAke me happy, happy, happy.

About 2 months now, still happy.

How long is long?

And your custom limbs will not be any better than the ones you had! A weight change Ok.

Long can be 2 seconds as opposed to 1 second. Anyway, enjoy your Bob Lee. Nice bows. I'm 73 so I don't wait for any one to make something that will take longer than a few days. ;)))

Have fun with the new toy.

Since I have gotten older I don't care to wait 6 months to a year and half for any bow, they come up for sale at half the new price all the time. The only new custom I would maybe order would be one of Dan Toelke's, that's usually a 6-8 week weight and I can handle that.

I won't wait 6 months for somebody to make a bow. Never seen one that was worth the wait. But I guess it's good some will.

George you sound like my patients. Glad I retired. Lol

I waited over a year for a bow once and it wouldn't have mattered if it was ten. It was made with yew that's over 100 years old and was passed from Chet Stevenson to Gilman Kasey to Jim Fetrow to Dean.

You always have to send them the riser to make sure they match to your new limbs. It never took two months though for me. Perhaps I just got lucky. Call JJ and check on status if you are concerned. I'm thinking about having another set of stronger limbs made for one of mine.

Pretty sure you will not be disappointed when you get it back.

I've waited and waited and waited. One time just short of two years. And that one was worth the wait. Shot it for 9 years and that's a record for me.

You don't have to always send the bow back for new limbs. Widow for one. Blacktail, Dryad, and A&H may be others. I think the ones made on CNC machine is the determining factor, but I could be wrong.

I've had to go to ILF and that's takes as long as UPS OR USPS takes to get it in most cases.

This is why the prudent archer always has a back up bow closely matched to his primary shooter.

There are a couple of nice looking Lees listed at RMS presently. May be too heavy, though.

Sounds like you wanted the fancy overlays and splicing on the limbs. When I shot a lot of Bob Lee's, I'd have them contact me when they were ready for my riser. They would have the limbs almost done, just waiting on my riser for the final fit and weight check. I'd usually be without my riser for a week or maybe two weeks. And yes, I'm thinking of going back to Lee bows, if they will make the riser the way and color I want it.

I’ve owned many custom bows over the last 30 years however most were used. I had Dick Robertson make me a beauty last year. It was definitely worth the wait.

I'm shooting a Robertson bow now that I bought from LW member out of the classifieds that I am very pleased with, for about 25% of new price. Wait time about 3-4 days for Priority Mail.

I just passed on a bow at the Black Widow showroom because it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. When I put out 1K or more I want it real close in weight and length. As it is it was a few pounds more than I want. I can shoot it now but I am considering 5-10 years from now. You better believe it was real, real hard to walk away.

M60 Did you check to see if they could make an adjustment in the draw Weight for you? As far as length, I would assume that you would have been looking at your desired AMO length anyway.

IMHO Unless the bowyer gets to see you shoot and can see how the bow is working and make adjustments, a waste of money. A stock bow will work, but they can do the above, wow what a differance!

David, didn’t think to ask as the bows have final finish on them. I like longer bows, recurve or LB. I do know I could like the Toby grip. I tried a PSR that fit me but I was all over the bag with it. Me and shorter than 60” bows never got along, so sad, it’s a nice bow.
