WHAT: The 15th Howard Hill Classic / IBO Mid America Traditional Archery Event "Two Great Stand Alone Events"

WHERE: Tannehill Historical State Park "One Outstanding Location"

WHEN: "May 31st, June 1st & 2nd, 2019"

First, you DO NOT have to join the IBO to shoot the IBO Mid America.

The IBO has two 20 target ranges, Course A & Course B. If you shoot in the IBO competition, you must shoot BOTH COURSES, 40 target total for the IBO competition. The cost is $30.00. You have 5 different times you can do this. On Friday, the times are 8:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. On Saturday, the times are 8:00 AM and 12:00 Noon. On Sunday, only at 8:00 AM. Friday & Saturday are a shot gun start. As long as you shoot both courses, it doesn't matter the times YOU choose. The Howard Hill Classic has 25 targets and the Course opens at 7:00 AM Friday, Saturday & Sunday. If you can only shoot one day, there is an all day fee of $25.00 and you can shoot as many rounds as you can get in. There are special weekend rates for Singles & Families. Fee's for a Single weekend rate are $35.00 and Family rates are $60.00 for a family up to four, living at home. These rates entitle you to shoot as many rounds as you can get. The format for the HH Classic is a multi- round shoot with your highest score you shoot over the course of the weekend counting for your competition. You don’t have to turn in every score card, juts your first & highest after that.

NOW, if you like to compete with multiple bows, you only have to pay an extra $20.00 per bow, and you can also shoot the different bow as much as you want.

In addition to the Divisions that have always been in place at the Howard Hill Classic, here are some added Classes to coincide with the IBO.

Men's & Women's RU, Men's Modern Longbow, Men's Sr. Traditional The Men's Modern Longbow will allow three piece takedowns, wood, carbon & aluminum arrows. Men's Longbow will consist of allowing the takedown (breaking down at the handle) and wooden arrows only. The Men's Sr Traditional ( 60 years & older) allows all arrows Men's Sr wood arrows only.

So, all in all, there will be 15 classes for competition at this year's Howard Hill Classic. FIVE of these have never been here before. As I said earlier, if the IBO has it, I'm trying to coincide so when you come and have a class that hasn't been here before, it will be here now.

Terry or Shana, couple questions: I know the start times for the IBO shoot. Will they open registration at 7 and 11? Am I correct in that you have to shoot or be registered for the IBO tournament to participate in the additional IBO events (Self-bow shoot off, ladies team event,...)? Thank you.

From: THarris
Date: 22-May-19

Jim, the HH Classic range opens at 7 AM, I feel that the IBO starts the same because there is a shot gun start at 8 AM.

I'm not sure about the IBO events, but you will have to shoot the HH Classic to try and qualify for the Showcase Championship Shoot Down on Saturday.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Grumpy Jim. The registration is all together under the pavilion. Open all day. You do not have to register for the IBO Mid America to shoot and enjoy participating in the side bar events. The IBO put these extra events together for all to enjoy, fellowship with folks they might not already know, and promote fun in archery for all skill levels. Just bring a Self Bow and shoot in the Selfbow Shootout. Sign up for the Women’s Team event by putting ur name in the hat. Be there for the Last Man Standing and ur in. But u do have to shoot the Howard Hill to qualify to shoot in the Showcase Shootdown.

Archers who shoot the Howard Hill Classic course, their first round will be used to qualify for the Saturday afternoon's Showcase Shoot Down Championship at 4:30 PM.

Archers can then shoot the Howard Hill course as many times as they like to improve their score for the Howard Hill Classic awards.

Archers can also shoot the IBO Championship course A & B one time, with peers, for the Mid-America Championship awards. The IBO will hold shotgun starts on Friday, & Saturday @ 8am and 12pm, with no shot gun start on Sunday at 8am. So plan your schedule accordingly to shoot both courses.

Your IBO total of 40 target score will determine your place for Mid-America awards. (There is no IBO peer grouping on Sunday like @ the world championships)

This will be a great shoot for all skill levels, and archery enthusiasts.

There will be FOUR Shoot Downs at the Howard Hill Classic / IBO Mid America.

What's everyone shooting for? On Friday, the 1st at 4 PM, is the team shoot with some Lady picking her partner, could be one or more Men. The winning team splits a Cash Prize. The 2nd at 4:30 PM, is the Last Man Standing, the Winner also gets a Cash Prize and a pretty cool Trophy shown here . On Saturday, the 1st is at 4 PM, the Men's & Women's Self Bow Shoot-Down. The two winners split a Cash Prize. ANYONE with a Self Bow can shoot this.

The 2nd is the ShowCase Shoot Down Championship at 4:30 PM. The top 15 Men from the Orange Stake, the Top 15 Men from the White Stake and the Top 15 Women from the White Stake all compete and each have a !st, 2nd & 3rd Place Winner from those three competitions.

Whew, so much to do at this rare dual event.

So many different targets, unbelievable set ups, CHALLENGING and yet FUN!!!

Folks, all SIXTY FIVE Targets are out.

TWENTY FIVE on the range for the Howard Hill Classic.

Two TWENTY Target ranges for the IBO Mid America.

Here's just a few of several targets on the three courses.

NOW, not every range has each of these targets.

SO, if ya want to shoot one of these targets, YA NEED TO SHOOT BOTH, The IBO and HH Classic courses.

Folks, these photos in NO WAY show you the outstanding placement of these targets.

Folks, I hope I don't jinx this, but the weather this weekend looks as it's gonna be OUTSTANDING!!!

So many event this year have had some pretty bad weather and I've always felt bad for those who put on these events.

Now, let me say again, YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS EVENT!!!

A Dual Competitive event at one location is very rare, and the target set ups are absolutely fantastic in my opinion.

I feel this will be an ULTIMATE COMPETITION / FELLOWSHIP gathering for some of the best shooters and friends you'll come across.

Terry, the last sentence of your post below confuses me:

Men's & Women's RU, Men's Modern Longbow, Men's Sr. Traditional The Men's Modern Longbow will allow three piece takedowns, wood, carbon & aluminum arrows. Men's Longbow will consist of allowing the takedown (breaking down at the handle) and wooden arrows only. The Men's Sr Traditional ( 60 years & older) allows all arrows Men's Sr wood arrows only.

Confusing is: Men's Sr wood arrows only. Should that read Men's Senior longbow wood arrows only???????

Absolute great shoot! Thanks to all for all the hard work it takes to put on an event like this. I sure hope you guys team up with IBO again.

John, It was great seeing you again and shooting with you. I went out on the Howard Hill after finishing the IBO and shot 9 points higher in RU, but did not meat the deadline to turn in scores. Even missed getting on the IBO podium. Hope to see you again!

Very fun shoot, I had a great time! What were some of your favorite shots???
