Every year I make a bunch of fancy tillering gizmos to put on the TG St Jude auction. I sent out requests high and low for extra fancy wood scraps to make gizmos out of and received over 100# of great stuff. I got a bunch of curly maple, figured and plain walnut, beautiful spalted wood, cherry and a bunch of pretty but unknown wood.

I promised the people who donated wood that their wood would be used to raise money for the St Jude auction but found out the organizers just canceled said auction for this year.

I don't know if this falls outside the guidelines for the classifieds, mods delete it if it does.

I will trade one fancey gizmo shipped free to anyone who shows me proof of their making a $20 donation directly to St Jude. I ship these gizmos complete instructions for their use. This offer is for US shipping only.

I will start with fancy curly maple gizmos first as I received over 75# of really great stuff. They will vary from one to the next because each piece has a different amount of curl.

Here is an example;

That's pretty darn cool. That's a good cause you are supporting as well.

Do you have an address for the donation and a means of providing proof of donation?

It's Eric's "Tillering Gizmo" for use in making selfbows. Just as handy as a pocket on a shirt to get limbs bending well with no hinges.

For those who are wondering;

The gizmo marks where the stiff spots are in a wood bow limb so you can gently scrape away wood for a perfectly bending limb.

This trade has been an overwhelming success, I think I am at over $600 in donations.

It is time to bring this to a close, I have made a pile of gizmos to send out and been living in my shop making them so it is time call it quits for this year. I plan to do the same next year about this time. I have become allergic to wood dust over the years and I can tell it is time for a break

Tomorrow will be the cutoff day, I will still take orders today. Thank you all so much for your generosity.

I will still be making extra special gizmos and offering them one at a time for a St Jude donation, here is an example of one made from some of my most spectacular wood.

Anyone thinking about trying to build a selfbow...this little gizmo will save you much time and frustration. It will also help you obtain a proper tiller even on your first bow. Thanks again Eric for your generosity. St Judes is a very worthy cause.

I have another trade; If you are interested, before you make a donation check with me to see if the gizmos are still available as I have posted the same ad on several sites and there is only one set of 6.

In the course of making gizmos to trade for a St Jude donation I made some with very minor cosmetic flaws, perhaps there wasn't enough curl in the finished wood to call them "extra fancy", a couple have sanding belt scratches you can slightly see or have the bottom hole drilled 1/16" off square. All are very nice looking and function flawlessly but being picky I couldn't send them out as being perfect. If I didn't point out the flaws it would be be unlikely that you would see them.

Here is your chance to get 6 gizmos to hand out at Mojam, OJam, Twin Oaks or any other bow making get together and have people really like you. They will probably invite you into their camp and reward you with adult beverages for you generosity.

For a $50 St Jude donation they will be headed your way. This will put the St Jude donations at $645 for this project.

If you choose to jump on this deal I will need your address and donation confirmation number or a screenshot of the donation page. US shipping only.

Another thing, If you say you are going to make a donation please follow through. On the last trade deal I had a number of folk tell me they were making a donation but didn't follow through.

On the bright side I had several folk make a donation even though they didn't want me to send the a gizmo.
