For all you guys tha like a baseball style hat but dont like the long brim. Check out the ladies hat section at your local Goodwill or thrift store. Most of the womens hats have a short bill. Perfest for shooting a bow. You may have to cut off a flower or bow, but it's way cheaper than an "Archers Hat". Thanks John

Good idea! I have a friend in Alabama the makes hats. She makes them with a soft bill, and you can machine wash them.

I found a great wool hat on e-bay, short brim and all. Sort of a 'Radar' pattern, made by a well-known hiking/mountaineering company. Cold and damp? Bring it.
PS yeah, heckuva nice buck!

Hey! what is that white stuff??????
It's been 61 years since I have been in that stuff, I hope to see it again some day.
John, here in Florida I have to use the wide brim similar to what Fred Bear wore because of the sun is so intense I get cancer on the tip of my ears and neck every year if I don't wear protection, but thanks for the idea, my wife loves shopping in those places.

I got one of the short brimmed mossy oak hats that I got in the late 1980s and wore it for many years. I really like it. I still have it somewhere but can't remember where I put it.

Nice buck John. I don't think I could ever find a ladies hat big enough to fit my melon head. Do have one that Box Call made and it fits perfectly. Also, TBOT, Traditional Bowhunters of Texas has one with a short bill with a wire rim in the bill. You can make it accomodate shooting very easily. I believe you can get one just like it from 3 Rivers. However, my Box Call hat is great!

Jacket and hat here came from Box Call. I also have two of his wool hats for colder weather. For my fat head, I either need an adjustable hat or an XXL. Dan's fit perfectly and are as top notch as you will find.

Here is short brimmed bucket hat I've had since the early to mid 1970s. I still own it and it's still in pretty good shape for being so old.

Thanks for the comments on the deer. With two weeks left in our season, he looked plenty big enough for me. I also have a couple of Boxcalls hats and I love them, however, the ball cap style allows for a headband to keep my ears warm.

someone please post where to buy one of those short brim bucket style hats to bow hunt in. I put in for many of the drawings to try to win one but had no luck. With the few years I have left to bow hunt price is not a option as long as it;s quality made. I don't know why they are so hard to find. It seems like all good products that work doesn't stay on the market.
