Any of those woods would look great with it, but since Todd's a midwesterner I'd give him the osage with it--if it's a bow for him. Maybe you should throw some carbon in as well; he loves that hi-tech modern crap! ;-)

Todd my like carbon in a bow, but I'm in control. He sent up the beautiful riser wood. Solid and heavy,I like it. JF

I have a very dense pc. of Rosewood that looks like that. Reddish with black grain. You can sand it smooth and buff it to a high polish with no finish.>>>>-----. Ken

It looks like macassar ebony to me.

From: Archre167

Since its in your hands lets call it Iowa Ebony!

From: crookedstix
Date: 14-May-19

2 Bears, I know what you're talking about with those really dark rosewood pieces. It's like they're already saturated with some kind of oil, and much softer than the surrounding wood as well. I've encountered patches of them before while refinishing bows.

You put hedge in my bow and I'll use it for a fence post!!! You know I ordered Yew and clear glass for that piece Macassar Striped Ebony,

Glad you got the wood looking forward to the bow and yeah 40#@28"

From: bodymanbowyer
Date: 14-May-19

Yeah now that sounds like a Weiner. Hedge,Bodark and yew. LOL. Hmm now I'm thinking Oldbowyer :O Carbon crooked sticks says :-) hmm JF

Jeff, looking forward to seeing some build picks of this bow ! I know what ever you do it will look and shoot great . Still loving the one you built for me , only bow I shoot anymore : )

From: Dry Bones
Date: 15-May-19

Iowa Stick's are a real deal. Like said above. WHATEVER Jeff does, it will look fantastic and shoot just as good. I'm not sure when the last time was I took something other than my Freeman for a woods walk??

Jeff if all this rain keeps on I may actually get to put a damper on the local hog population around here. They can't swim forever and the high ground is getting high density. :D

Maybe I can slip this redo from 2012 #017 to Todd instead he wouldn't even know the difference. It was 52# now 45# 66" Flat Narrow Longbow. LOL JF

Naw I couldn't do that :O I'm going to be cutting out my latest riser pattern on this one. JF

From: Oldbowyer
Date: 16-May-19

You should know better than try to fool me on something like that! LOL Crookedstix using you to get back at me for his pink glass? LMAO

Looks like there will be a little left over for a backing overlay, And yeah I agree this one will be a sweet one. Can't wait

From: Dry Bones
Date: 16-May-19

Sharp stick there Jeff, But I don't think OB would have believed that was his material. New Riser Pattern? how can you improve upon the perfection you sent to me?? :D >>-->

Be sure to let us know how the new riser change feels when you shoot the bow compared to your old riser. It will be hard to beat the bows you been building : )

Korean Crapwood?

Joe

LOL

From: Dry Bones

If it is Korean, Frisky will want several.. That would go well with his rat trap and Super Slow models.

Macassar Ebony is a Asian Hardwood. JF

From: Frisky

Obviously Skookum influence, as he's the guy who built the broken limb FASCOs out of Korean Crapwood and admitted it here.

I saw this one coming when I suggested it should be pushed as Ziricote, "The Holy Grail" of bow woods.
