Ok uninterested. Happy face! I am using 12" of my caul for reflex. Doing it thru entire limb. That must be right. Arvin

Good job Arvin, looks professional to me, so you must be an accomplished bowyer!

Alan it's just under 1-1/4 at fades.

Alan it's just under 1-1/4 at fades. I have been told that English Longbows don't have that thick a handle. What say you gurus? Arvin

I had a Jim Fetro bow some years back but can't remember the handle. Arvin

Arvin, that is not an English long bow. You can't have a handle on it. The long rounded belly style with short handle is often referred to as English style. As long as the bow has one continuous arc when braced it doesn't matter how much reflex you use, you just are not supposed to see any curves in the bow but one.

Sorry I didn't notice the English Longbow part. I'm certainly not a expert, but I believe Badger is correct.

You might still be able to take handle off and make one. How wide is handle? I can't really see. Didn't notice it narrowed in pictures but I'm just looking on my phone.

Ok Steve so it has to bend in the handle. It's a 1-1/4 " thru that hand section. The rules state that it can't be less than 5/8 in depth to every inch in width. So how deep can I make that handle section. The rules only speak of a minimum thickness. No maximum is mentioned. I don't like bend in the handle bows but I will abide by the rules. Just clarify them for me please. Arvin

It can still be pretty stiff through the handle area. I think the only issue is that most of the English longbows I’ve seen at our competitions do not have the dips above and below the handle. If the change in thickness through the handle area was much more subtle then it probably wouldn’t raise much of a fuss.

Ok Alan I'll take it to 1-1/4 in width and a 1-1/4 in thickness. So the D will be as thick as it is wide. The tips are also 1/2-1/2. Arvin
