I wrote an Easter message earlier and came back to see 8 responses and that it had been closed. Have no idea why- but I decided I wanted to try again.

I just finished our first quarter archery shows - it was a blur. Shows from one end of the country to the other. We started in Utah and ended in Texas.

I get some down time now and hope to spend lots of time with my family, clean my gear, make some repairs and get ready for our summer tour. I hope all of you have found time to turkey hunt some, and that like me you are glad to see Spring arrive.

I have been lucky in my time to have met wonderful friends and role models via archery and my shows. I’ve also had some wonderful role models like Fred Bear, Rev Stacy Groscup and Coach Leon McCoy. All good men. I’ll try and write some posts after I have some time with my family.

Easter is a special time for me. I love the story in the Bible about the women coming to the tomb to wash Jesus’ body. They find an empty tomb and an angel asks them why they are looking for the living among the dead. In other words Jesus was alive! And that gives us all hope! Light always conquers dark, good prevails over bad.

So happy Easter friends. May God bless you and may you know His peace. Have a great week.

Could be. Not sure.

A few years ago I had a small group that tended to follow me and debate, discuss, and if I said right they said left. Anyway, to prevent them from interrupting other threads I started labeling my threads and stick to those to keep the peace. They were cyber bullies I suppose, but like any bully I ignored them and didn’t leave the playground.

So I typically post my own posts. I don’t ever question Phil or the moderators. They make the rules and I respect their call.

Thanks for posting again, Frank. I too wondered why the other was closed. It was good to chat with you this week and hope you and the family had a blessed Resurrection Day.

Amen friends.

Easter is great. We celebrate his birth at Christmas and his death and rising again at Easter. Coach Leon McCoy was a great role model.

If you go to YouTube, you can enter Coach Leon McCoy Testimony and hear Coach McCoy’s testimony. Amazing man.

Stacy Groscup also has a video or two on YouTube.

Thanks again Frank!!

Here is a Stack Groscup Zipper Signature Bow #26 with memories for Easter.....

Perhaps it's all those pesky athiest archers who want to tralk about archery

Love the Zipper bow photo ! Stacy loved his Zipper bows. Bob Thompson, another WV boy, was a great guy. He shot our 3-D range with me once. We had a fun time.

Phil I don’t mind atheist archers at all. You won’t find one time I invaded their threads and posted... I simply wish they would show me the same respect. I label my threads so they don’t have to be bothered by my posts. God gave me 20/8 vision and the hand/eye coordination I have and so I give Him credit for my abilities. I was fortunate to become active in the sport at the right time so that my paths crossed with the right people. Fred Bear, Earl Hoyt, Tom Jennings, Gail Martin, Jim Easton, Matt McPherson, etc. I didn’t read about these folks, I knew them. And as big of an influence as Stacy Groscup and Fred bear we’re on me, Jesus is the One I give the most credit to...

I’ll continue to label my threads so you won’t have to read them if it bothers you so.

Hey there Frank. Nice message. Hope you all had a great Easter.

Don Thank you. Am proud of my folks! Amazing parents. Great hunters too. Mom took a running buck at 28 yards with a Bear recurve back about 1971. Not many female bowhunters back then.

Thanks for the kind words.

FDP- Thanks. Looks like your family fishing trip was a success too. See you soon. When Seldon slider gets to texas y’all tell. I am sure we can find good food to eat.

I love the Leatherwall. So many great folks.

Your posts don't bother me at all Frank, personally, I find your posts hillarious. I suspect the reason your initial thread was closed was because it has nothing to do with archery.

Phil I watched some of the most popular kids in our high school picking on a special needs student one time. This student lived with an elderly grandmother, didn’t bath regularly, had no fancy clothes and often smelled from a lack of bathing. But he was actually funny and had a great sense of humor. When I saw the boys picking on him I thought about what was going on. These boys lived in the right neighborhoods, wore designer clothes and played on the high school teams. All the girls wanted to date them. The boy they picked on had very little. I assumed they picked on him because of some insecurity or just to make themselves feel better. Whatever the reason it was cruel. So I had him sit at my table the rest of the year. Some of the girls at our table left when he sat down, afterall he wasn’t popular and he had an odor. But those boys left him alone after that.

You see Phil it’s easy to pick on others. It takes effort to lift others up instead of tearing them down. I’ve always tried to be someone to lift others up when I can.

Many here on Leatherwall have a strong faith. There have been many prayer requests and updates on members so others could pray. Have you seen those threads? While these don’t have anything to do with archery, it involves archers (us) so it’s allowed to stand. I love Easter and I love the message. I was simply sharing my faith with those that read my threads. Perhaps it wasn’t archery, but as proud of archery and my shows as I am I take a deeper happiness in knowing Jesus.

I am sure you are well educated and I’m sure you are good at what you do. I’ve been at this archery game 48 years and made a living at it for 34 years. My father’s forgotten more about bow tuning than most will ever know. So my archery resume is pretty solid. I always welcome you on my threads but once in awhile why not contribute something positive instead of always trying to make snide comments. What’s the purpose? Remember it takes effort to lift others up and be helpful.

Good message Frank. And you're right about the negativity on this site. It takes a lot of the fun out of visiting this site sometimes.

Just wanted to let you know also that I lived in Teays Valley for about 10 years and visited your dad's shop regularly. It was a great place to hang out and a well run family business. The first 3-D course I ever shot was at Addingtons.

Your folks are good people. Case in point - My first bow was a compound that I bought from a fellow at the flea market in Milton. I'm sure you know it. I took the bow to Addingtons to get it set up and your dad inquired as to where I bought it. Turns out it was stolen by an employee - no wonder I got such a great deal on it. I volunteered to give the bow back but hoped to be reimbursed when the offender was charged. But you dad said "No, you paid for the bow, it's yours. You keep it. I'll deal with it on my end" So, I volunteered to testify if necessary but never heard another word about it. Your dad is a class act.

I have fond memories of visiting Addingtons. Tell your folks I said Thank You. Take care, Jeff

Thanks for the positive message Frank. It is refreshing to see someone who has special talents and some level of "fame" giving thanks and appreciation to his Creator, rather than pounding his chest and tooting his own horn.

Of course, the Bible warns us that we Christians will be subjected to mistreatment at the hands of the world. A very small cross that we must bear, in comparison to what Jesus suffered, and even in comparison to what other Christians have suffered and are suffering around the world. To the naysayers, the only energy I can give them is "bless your heart" and a prayer that perhaps they might give God an opportunity at some point in their life.

Beyond that, I've enjoyed seeing you on videos but haven't had the opportunity to see you in person. I am over in Georgia, so I will keep an eye out for an opportunity to catch you when you come to this side of the Country.

Joe I remember you. It was me that waited on you, I didn’t see an Addington’s sticker on the bow. I knew it was our set up and our gear- I could tell the way the rest was set up, the nok tied in, etc. I also showed you a photo of an employee Christmas party we hosted and asked you if the guy that sold you the bow was in the photo... and he was. Yep, I remember you. If memory serves me right it was a PSE bow. Right?

Frank, wow, your memory is impressive. It was indeed a PSE Carroll Intruder. I killed my first deer (archery) with that bow. When a buddy of mine got me into traditional archery, I brought my first recurve into the shop. I remember you checking it out and liking it. A Wilderness Archery, Blue Ridge model. I still have that bow but the 58# pull doesn't come back as easily these days. I also remember a newspaper clipping of a monster black bear that your dad killed. Was it 700+ pounds. You should post that pick if you still have it. Fun reminiscing with you, take care. Jeff

Jeff That bear’s Skull would have placed it as #1 in PY at the time (1997) but Pop doesn’t enter his game. He’s taken a number of record animals but doesn’t enter any.

It was a huge bear. Here it is ...

And mom is now up to 20 bear with her bow. They still bear hunt every june.
