Seen pic of Dean with like 3-4" reflex in two bows. I am going to see how close I can get. This could be great, disappointing, funny , what ever but be to the point and give me my grade. My skin is pretty thick. Arvin

Any suggestions on the weight for these specs so far. Not over 50!

Arvin, I have no idea of the specs or anything else, but I am definitely following along to see what happens next.

Very nice, Arvin. You can do it. I once made an osage sucker bow with 3-4" of reflex. It was mostly sapwood. Shot great. Jawge

Good luck with the bow! Will you shoot it on the flats?

Maybe 49@ 29" handles and fades 8 1/2". Parallel limbs inner 1/2 then tapering to something nice and sleek.

Or anything you'd like. I'll be watching

Larry if it holds that reflex I am pretty sure it will cut the mustard at the flats.

What are those holes??? And it looks like you really need to pad your vice jaws!

From: Arvin
Date: 22-Apr-19

Well Jim the vise could use some pads but I still have a bunch of handle to come off. Verdict still out but it looks like I will be repeating the 5th grade for the third time!!! Good thing I like Miss Worth! Didn't take long for it to go to funny! Arvin

With those holes there, it’s a shame her name wasn’t Miss Wormwood; then you’d already have a name for this one!

Is there a special class for self-bows? I suppose if you know your apples so that they don’t all end up as kindling, a selfie would be the smart-money route for prototyping..

And how cool is it that the Cutting Edge of bow performance can still be explored back at the roots!

Jim what holes? No those were moisture meter prong holes. There is a reason for recurve handles. Flight rules allow arrow rest even on selfbows. Maximum 2" deep.so your arrow can be shorter or your draw can be longer or both I think. Arvin

Yes they have selfbow and a host of other classes in the USA Flight Archery events.

Yes they have selfbow and a host of other classes in the USA Flight Archery events. First coat of true oil. Waiting for wind to cooperate to test it. I think it's going to end up at 35@25 with 2-21/2 inches of reflex . We will see.

Very nice Arvin, if it shoots anything like the one you sent me it will do fine.About the only ones I have been able to hold that much reflex is a small diameter stave or limb bow. Pappy
