I should have asked this question in a previous post. What do you find works well for gluing aluminum footing to carbon shafts. I'm shooting Easton Axis Trads.

This right here is all I use (or will use) for inserts, outserts, and footings.

Best I've ever found.

Rick is that the glue you were telling me about that will release w a little heat?

I use big jims hotmelt for footings, but may have to give the gorilla glue a try someday.

Yes, it is heat reversible.

Takes a bit more heat than the "hot melt" varieties, but it releases, and I have never ruined a shaft doing it.

I've also "never" lost a point, insert, outsert, or footing since I started using it.

Works on wood points also, but you have to anchor them in place, or the expansion of the glue will push them off the shaft.

Instructions say it has a 4 hour cure time, but I've found that not to work so well. Give it about 12 hours, and you're good to go.

Golf shaft epoxy. Not reversible but not an issue for me. No matter what glue you use rough up the shaft a little before gluing. Some shafts have a finish on them to keep arrows from sticking in targets. That finish may keep the glue from working properly.

I second Mr Barbee on Gorilla glue for inserts and footings (thanks Rick!).

Used to use hot melt, Gorilla glue stands up much better to stumping abuse.

can you use gorilla glue without wetting it for for inserts ect.?

Ron, I've never wet it.

thanks Rick. I was hoping that was the case.

I use the jb weld steel epoxy and have had arrows survive collisions with rocks. Sandy

AAE epoxy or the epoxy that comes with the shaft when you buy HIT insert
