I’ve taken delivery of my second-ever new bow.
Ronsplc in Alabama turned me on to the thrill of a modern longbow a couple years ago.
My son bought me a Maddog Archery longbow about a year and a half ago, which gave up the ghost last spring on a rove at Ron’s place.
Been wanting one ever since.
Finally got ahead of bills and responsibilities this spring so I asked Mike at Maddog to build a Prairie Predator between #45-50 and 62 inches long with black glass.
29 days later I discovered a long package at the front door landing.

#49@28”, maple and bamboo, I think, black glass on belly and back.
Very light, very strong, fits my hand well, no hand shock, and...wait for it... shoots better than I can.

Thanks guys.
I’ve shot it just a little bit off the porch at a foam target. It really likes the 2117s I’ve been using in my recurves, which is cool cause I’ve got a bunch of those.
My son and I did a rove yesterday but I didn’t take the new bow. I wanted to practice a little more and I’m a little reluctant to take it in the woods. I will, that’s what’s it’s for, but it’s unscathed right now and won’t remain so long in the woods...
I need to make some more bamboo arrows but haven’t yet.
This is the first new bow I’ve ever bought; the other new bow was a gift in 1978 (I still have it).
I think I made a good choice.

Mike makes a great bow and they will fling an arrow with the best of them. He also builds youth bows for such a low price that I don't see how he makes any $$ off them. He build my step daughter one last year that is fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about the bower or his bows! Enjoy that new bow and shoot straight my friend.

Thanks everybody.
I’ve shot it some more in the yard and it’s a lot of fun. This may be my new go to bow for awhile. It really spits 2117s.

There's no bamboo in that one, it has red elm cores, I have severe sneezing fits from bamboo dust, I can't use it.
Thanks for the props.
