Seems like something has changed for the worse at PayPal. First they refunded a payment without contacting me for my side of the story (since when is resolution based on one side only). Then they appear to have taken far more from my account than the refund amount. When I try to delete a bank account I no longer have I get a message they cannot do that. Pretty sure I am going to close my account and quit buying or selling bows online.

Get their phone number and talk with them. I've done that a couple times.

Last week I added a new bank account as my paying options. That somehow caused my whole account to be LOCKED. After talking to two different Nigerians who barely spoke English and were absolutely no help I requested to speak with an American supervisor, problem solved in minutes but what a PITA....no one was able to explain why my account was locked in the 1st place....PayPal ain't what it used to be.

I have been refunded money back twice and it never made it to my account. Opened case and no one knew where it went. They are crooks for sure so everybody better watch out..

When you call a company and get someone who can barely speak English and can't/won't understand you, that tells me exactly what the problem is.

Glad I started the thread. If I walks like a duck, looks like a duck and sounds like a duck it is a duck. Thanks folks for responding.

Locking out is a fail-safe to keep hackers at bay. It shouldn't happen on a legitimate transaction like just changing bank accounts though. I've had no trouble...so far, and I've been there a lot of years. I don't use it much anymore since my buying and selling has pretty much went to nil.

You may be correct George but I've used PP for many years. I have 2 Credit Cards and 2 bank accounts I use to pay with, all I did was add another bank account to the existing ones already on file and in use. Whatever the lockout was over, it needs to be able to be fixed quicker and easier and they need to hire help that speaks English.....that's the part that really chaps my azz.

ok I'm old and old fashon( I don't use pay ripoff) I pay in person cash or by mail with REAL USPS money orders. I research the sellers "name" and "post" here and onother boards If it doesn't feel or look right I walk/run away from the deal. I require photos of the bow or item, more the better(avoids some of the fake sellers)

Still nothing more secure than Paypal. Eliminates buyer remorse. Want it? Pay for it right now. Tired of guys saying they want what you have, but never cone through. No more. Want it? Buy it. With PayPal. Or just dream about it. Stand alone.

PayPal is a racket. Someone in the deal will lost and PayPal Will win. They always get paid. I guess I’m old fashioned. Cash is king

Shipped 3 bows this morning. Been using it weekly for years. I have never had one single glitch. Now money orders ----don't get me started. Like anything to do with computers, garbage in garbage out.Take care,>>>>-----> Ken

They're a big bank, of sorts, and they have a large security department. (And they just made it easy for to pay Ken for upgrading my bow)

All you have to do with a usps money order is take it to the post office and they will tell you if its legit or not. If it is real then ship. My bank calls a number to make sure its not a fake then i cash them and ship. Pretty simple. If its fake its simple too, dont ship. Ive also used paypal fkr years with no issues so far.

USPS money orders are being counterfitted also. I was paid with a postal money order and when I went to cash it at the post office it took a couple of minutes to track it and clear it. I asked the teller what the problem was and she said that they have been getting a lot of counterfit postal money orders lately. I still prefer paypal over everything else.

Yep, they're a bank, and banks have to make a profit to stay in business.

I've never thought their fees were that high, and using them has sure made things run smoother for me.

That's not to say I haven't had a couple of glitches along the way, but when everything is done right, and you are in the right it will work out for you.

Banks make mistakes too. All of them.

I don’t like dealing with PayPal. I have and probably will in the future but would much rather deal with a Postal Mo. although I know that can be a hassle for some folks too.

Buying with PayPal adds an extra layer of protection. Never use friends and family unless it is. I have been using it since 2005 without a problem. I always offer it for people who buy from me. That or PO money order. I cash the money order before I ship the bow.

I had the same happen once, sold the item then the buyer complained he got refunded and kept the item. Now I only take money orders. Never had a problem since.

Another thing to be careful with using paypal, it don't ship as soon as it says you got paid, sometimes it takes 3-7 days for you to be able to access the funds....

I guess it comes down to personal experience. I've dealt with good folks in the traditional archery community via personal checks and Paypal, and have had good luck with both.

No experience with postal money orders, would offer to get a certified bank check if requested. (The post office is not a bank...)

I've never had a problem with PayPal. It's the only thing I use. PayPal saved me a lot of money on a antique pocket watch I didn't get. Until I start having problems with Paypal I will continue to use it.

If you use PayPal on a credit card you can try with the credit card company/bank

As a side note.... I am still waiting for Gunbroker to take action on a fraud complaint I filed in Jamuary. Their reason is that the seller won't respond.

You never know until you have a problem.

I’ve had nothing but error free transactions with PayPal...and I use them a lot
