I do use a pop up blind. This bird was a last attempt as it was getting late this morning. There weren’t many gobbles this morning I guess due to the strong winds. I decided to take a more aggressive approach to my calling. It paid off. I just let out a series of loud yelps in my box call till I got an answer. I got one but it was a long ways off. I decided to go for broke and yell at him with yelps and cuts as loud as I could with that boxcall. Pretty soon I noticed his answer gettin closer. Then he quit. I thought it was game over. Then I heard drumming and spitting just on the other side of my blind wall. He dances around to my opening full strut spitting and drumming up a storm. He walked into perfect position about seven yards and I hit him right behind the wing bone. Arrow passed through like it didn’t even notice the bird. The bird didn’t notice the arrow either, he just turned around and walked a few feet. Then he fell over without so much as a quiver. It was an epic hunt and thanks for the congrats and reading.
