Looks good... I have a very old one I use for makin walkin sticks. I often wonder how many other hands had used the vintage tool before I found it.

Now this was forged out of metal that was probbaly O1 or maybe A2 or D2 that i had given to him i also give him some Vaco Max 350 all tool steel . It will hold an edge

Excellent! I like the handle angles and curve of the blade. Looks very functional.

I just bought two more, but I'm done buying them for a while. I have plans to make my own. I have some sizable pieces of tool steel calling to me, but it's down the list a ways.

Jeff, I'm just waiting for you to make a bow....

I just want a bow that does not break in 15 minutes after it is done .

I have had several friends make me draw knives. Most of the time they use the wrong steel or the blade is not tempered the right way for a draw knife. A draw knife will hold an edge longer than any other kind of blade I know of. I like a high carbon steel that is just soft enough to sharpen with a file.

Badger yes that makes them just perfect . Some think a harder blade will hold stay sharp longer but you run the risk of chipping thee edge . About 45 will file nice . much harder than that they get really hard to file .
