I've had my new Black Widow PSA ll for a couple weeks now. I'm pulling 46ish pounds at 27-1/2" draw. I shoot 450 grain arrows. I've had great luck with zwickey eskimo 4blades the last few years for mule deer and elk. I've got the itch to try a new broadhead this year, looks like VPA is the choice. I'll be buying 175 grain broadheads. Looking at a mule deer and elk hunt this fall, a potential pronghorn if I draw a permit... And if the stars align, maybe a desert bighorn sheep hunt in Utah. Not worried about penetration with either VPA's 2bld or 3bld head. Which VPA is the favorite for my set up and why? Let the discussion begin...

I’ve shot the 3 blades for a few years....awesome heads....very easy to sharpen on a flat diamond stone and virtually indestructible. I’m sure the 2 blade heads are equally as tough and only maybe slightly more difficult to sharpen because you have to use the angle that is designed into the ferrule as your guide for the blade angle....still not too hard but probably certainly not as easy as just laying a three blade broadhead on a diamond stone.

Do you use a G5 diamond stone for sharpening?

Exactly what david said 3 blades sharpen wonderfully with a file VPA 2 blades are HARD steel and hard for me to sharpen except with a paper wheel Once sharpened they stay that way

3 blades!!! I'm finding the 3 blade VPA penetrates as well as alot of 2 blades and the 3 blades leave a much better blood trail. Especially the long lean 3 blades like your talking about(175 grain and higher). So easy to get sharp and keep them that way in the field. If I had one complaint it would be they like to rust pretty quick but other than that, great heads!!!

3 blade VPA’s for me, sharpened with a 10” 3 sided jewel stick.

I appreciate the feedback. Having never owned either, I’m just going off of reviews. There are quite a few Australian fellows who swear by the “two bladas” and are using a flat diamond stone for sharpening. I may just buy a pack of each and carry both in the quiver. I’ve never carried different broadbeads in my quiver.

I've used the two blades for years and have had good luck with them. I just sharpen them on a fine grit diamond stone just like a pocket knife. I have a 10 inch or so piece of arrow with an insert in it that I use as a handle when sharpening broadheads and that really helps. Even though I like the 2 blades I think I'm going to try the 3 blades this year to see how they compare.

The old saying is "If it works, don't mess with it". You've had great luck with the Zwickey Eskimo 4 blade. I doubt if you'll find any better than that. Apparently you know how to sharpen them!

I totally agree Skeets, I just got the itch to try something new this year. I understand that I won’t be gaining any advantage, just something different.

I have used 150./ 200./ 250./ and 300gr in 2 and 3 blade on both deer and hogs all w/ excellent results. Better penetration w/ 2 blades on big hogs than 3 blades. Not to say 3 blades didn't penetrate well just did not exit the other side on big hogs. On deer 3 blades blew right through then. Blood trails were both excellent w/ short recoveries..If u can sharpen a Zwickey u shouldn't have trouble sharpening V.P.A 2 or 3 blades.I.M.O. hard to find a better made broadhead for the money.( 3 blades used on big hogs were out of a 45# recurve.)

VPA 2 blades....KME sharpener....working up from 400 grit sandpaper to 2000 grit on a flat piece of glass....crazy sharp results.

I like VPN 3 blades, I am ordering some 2 blades and. I like the bigger holes here in WA with all the ferns and ground cover. Better trail

I just ordered up a 1/2 dozen 175 grain terminators. Thank you for the input. I’ll get one of the jewelstick sharpeners on the way as well.
