That reminds me I need to hit my Permethrin. it is the 10% stuff i think 1/2 oz. to 10 oz. of water is the right blend for spraying my clothes and my Big Jim Bush In A Bag.

My new call from John and my Illinois turkey permit showed up in the mail on the same day a couple weeks ago. The call sounds great and Illinois is always a good time! Looks like a good combo!

The way things are going here in Nebraska this might be my setup.

With extensive shooting at a chunk of styrofoam about the size and shape of a turkey, the bow that I hit with the most often at 30 yards with my 27"bop 1918s with glue in adapters and four blade Herters heads is my JD Berry Morningstar. No pictures, ya'll know what that stuff looks like.

Going to use my Bear Take Down this year. Wood arrows and Zwicky Deltas. Going to search for new areas due to the terrible flooding here in ME Missouri. Chris

I haven't decided yet but it will be either my 1990s Bear Hunter TD ( 60#@28" ), or my 1972 Bear Super Kodiak ( 55#@28" ). And cedar arrows with Zwickey or Magnus broadheads.

The same setup I used for deer, turkeys don't give up easily. I will say I'm not big into turkey hunting to procure food since I much prefer a nice Butterball versus wild turkey. I do enjoy listening to them talk in the spring...I can hear them from my house. If I blunder into one in the spring I will attempt to take it...my son and his family like them.

This spring using my Jack Kempf longbow, 2117's with 160 gr Snuffers, mouth calls and slate call. No decoys, all natural cover. IF...I'm successful with my longbow, then I'm switching over to my LH bow and see if I can nail another tom. Love bowhunting both RH and LH

Turkeys are getting fired up here. I’ve been three times so far. I’ve only shot at two turkeys with my recurves. One I killed, one I did not. It’s Tough for me to kill them without a blind. It’s amazing how well they can see!! As for the setup, same as everything else, I just dull everything down.

Somebody brought up permethrin earlier- that stuff is gold. I treat all my warm weather clothes with it. Mosquitoes will not even LAND on you. And if they do, I’ve seen them just fall off- dead. It makes nasty bugs just one less thing to endure.

To be clear- I haven’t killed a turkey this year. That picture is from a few years back. Like 2015 or so I think.

After a couple conversations with Mike (Bugle-up), I'm going to throw my hat in the ring for a gobbler this spring. My shooting has never been better than right now, so this Northern Mist Classic will be my go-to bow. I may make another set of arrows that aren't as colorful, but they'll still be cedars with Howard Hill or Ace Standard heads. Season opens April 22nd here, so I'm looking forward to it!

Bugle-up, I bought an old beat up Mink coat at the local flea market for $5. Now I have Mink String silencers forever!

From: Bugle-up
Date: 29-Mar-19

Love it. Looks like half a mink on the top of the string and another half on the bottom. One of the benefits of getting it cheap! Thanks for the tip, I’ll be on the lookout at yard sales.

Got this bird this afternoon. Black Widow PLX longbow 62", 47# @ 28". Goldtip traditional XT 600 spine arrow with Grizzly broad head. Got A 10 yard shot quartering into the turkey. Arrow went all the way through. The turkey went about 15 yards after the shot, and was over on his back.
