A shout out THANK YOU, to arlone, for sending me the original Nov-Dec 1967 edition of Bow & Arrow Magazine. Greg has sent me a few editions, all of which, have articles pertaining to historic events or people in San Diego. This one details the fiberglass arrow making process of Gordon Plastics Inc., in San Diego.

When I have an opportunity, I'll be digitizing everything Greg has sent, and will make it available to anyone wanting a copy.

For now, these cell phone pics will have to suffice.

Doesn't Gordon still produce limbs?

From: jaz5833

Gordon Composits supplies around 80-90% of the archery application fiberglass to manufacturer's? of limbs and all other facets of archery fiberglass.

I have some of the Graph Flex shafts made while they were still in San Marcos. They didn’t have a store but you could walk in and buy shafts, no components. Had to buy 3 doz. Think that was late 70’s. Not to long after that if I recall correctly they moved to Utah.

They moved from San Diego to Montrose Colorado in the last half of the 70's.

Somebody on the WALL told me that "once upon a time" that 3 M was doing the glass for bows? Besides GORDON ? Who else is in the market? BLESSED BE!

I shot those Graflex shafts back in the day. Thought they would be the cat's meow, but turns out they were to fragile for my taste, went back to alum.

Dale, so did I think those shafts were tuff. That is until I broke a doz stumping here in AZ. while on vacation.

Still shoot gold Graflex, may have enough shafts to last me, never thought they were fragile and always straight.

That article is included in the first Archer's Digest book, which is a compendium of articles.

I have a good stash of fiberglass shafts, courtesy of Kelly, from when he was clearing them out.

Dave, keep in mind I used to use em for small game hunting and stumping. Plenty tough for normal use, but they don't hold a candle to modern wrapped carbons.
