Bob, I know your pain. I lost the love of my life two years ago last Aug. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her. We were married 57 and a half years. Last month would have been our 60 anniversary.

My sincere prayers!

I also went through this in 1995, she was 41. My life was devastated and I saw no way out. I'd been told "God puts no burden on us too hard to handle", and "time heals all wounds".

I doubted both. But, believe it or not, they are true. The overpowering grief is normal, understandable, and proof of your love. The "time" is different person to person...don't give up on yourself.

I numbered each day when she left...I can't recall how long before I couldn't remember what day it was, but it was a big number. In time...I could smile at the good times and the tears stopped, but I've NEVER forgotten. We're not supposed to!

It was a long time before I had any desire to do anything outside of my job. I quit shooting and hunting for several years. I had two kids at home, and being a single dad was tough. But...things gradually improved.

Grieve on your terms and your time brother! My heart goes out to you!

Losing your life's companion is devastating. It leaves us empty and confused. All the support, understanding, and affection expressed here is valuable and important. Nature abhors a vacuum. As the dust settles, life will put new things into that now empty space and you will hopefully feel healing, but at least back to a neutral place in the world. It will get better, but it will be in steps. Sometimes forward, sometimes a little backwards. Keep your eye ahead. Keep busy after dark.
