Bob, I was digging around and found this signed 11-1/2 x 17 fold-out HH catalog. Forgot I had it! The second page has a lot of laminated and solid glass recurves named for African game. The only longbow is the Tembo. Must be from the mid-50s? Can you provide an approximate year? Have more pictures of course.

Howard and Elizabeth were married in 1922. The ad says his wife of 38 years, so I'm thinking 1960.

Thanks guys! Well, this is really kind of interesting. There are 10 bow models in this catalog. 6 are laminated recurves, 3 are all-fiberglass recurves and ONE is one of his "traditional" longbows! Yet, the Hill enthusiasts hearken to his love of the longbow! I don't need to get flamed here, as I understand those times very well. Like the recurve was temporarily blown out of the market by compounds in the mid-70s, 20 years earlier the recurve was the cat's meow! I can believe Howard's own bow might have been a longbow, while he knew the bows that would sell were those new recurves! Heck, why did Bear change models every year like a car company? Because, especially back then, there simply wasn't enough money in making archery equipment. Ya' had to prime the pump! A lot! Eventually, it came back around. I will post pictures of the other pages in the catalog tonight.
