I need a lighter set of limbs for my Dale Dye Trails End recurve. Are limbs interchangable with different risers or would they have to be fitted?

The way Dale made his bows I would suspect they would need fitting, and since Dale no longer makes bows your S.O.L.

Maybe not. Most bowyers and craftsmen can work wonders, given something pretty close to work with. Good luck. >>>----> Ken

All limbs will boltup ok but they could over lap, I've bought two sets recently one looks like it was made for my riser the other over laps by 1/16" no big deal..

i believe you can not change right and left hand bows, limb butts are cut different,,

As said above, there definitely is an upper and a lower limb. I've only bought one extra set of limbs for a Dye bow and they fit like they were made for the riser. I believe that most bowyers use a jig to drill the riser for pin and bolt hardware. Even a jig doesn't guarantee perfect fit so there may need to be some very subtle elongating of a pin hole in a limb to get the limbs where they line up with the hardware. I've had to do several sets of Schafer limbs. Two or three thousandths will usually allow a nice snug fit up. I've also had to adjust the riser or the limbs for a smooth transition between riser and limb. The most recent was a Schafer riser that had too much meat at the top of sight window. That was probably the hardest modification to date as I don't own a spindle sander and had to use a sanding drum on the drill press then finish sanding by hand.

I have several of Dales bows. The only one that did not like a dif. set of limbs was a 58" short riser . Seems like most of the other limbs will fit ok with some better than others. I know a guy who does great work on here and am sure he could take care of any cosmetic issues. Send me a pm if you need his info.

I just listed a Dale Dye Trails End Recurve. Bow has 2 sets of limbs. 57# and 64#. ($500) I called Dale a few years back and was going to have him make me a set of lighter limbs. Cost was $700. He said I'd have to send the riser to him to have new limbs fitted. But, as aromakr said he's no longer making bows.
