Took a cheap Jake decoy and added a real Jakes tail. Looks pretty good.

Excellent idea! Looks fantastic!

Will, I did something very similar to that, I just attached the fan to a piece of black painted PVC. It was easy to haul around and the birds didn't see the lack of a body. Im sure yours will work just fine, especially earlier in the breeding season.

A buddy of mine put wings and a tail and motorized his hen separate from his tom that's also motorized.

Any birds that see them that were hung up come running in to get hung. LOL

I hope to start hunting with him if I can and get to see it and if I do will get some pictures of this deal.

I have DSD decoys the flock and am going to put a tail and wings on mine this year I sure hope to.

Idk bud, its real obviously anatomically incorrect. The body looks so skinny w a tail fanned out on it. Birds might not mind though but I’d never carry it

Why even carry the decoy? Many fellas just use the fan? You also have s funky chicken that’s hideous and many birds have been shot over em. I don’t want you to think I was thinking it wouldn’t work. In turkey hunting to me, everything should be realistic. Many guys succeed w way less so it’s not imperative. I guess it’s just an enjoyment thing for some.

Looks good. I would shoot it.

I use the MAD full strut decoy. Works like a champ.

I'm going to put in a real tail this year. They're made for it.

Blues man I wasn’t trying to sound negative. It’s just the way I talk. I’m very straight. To me it’s obviously not right. If I sat a day near it it’d drive me crazy. I strive for realism. That doesn’t mean the next guy can’t thoroughly enjoy it. Sorry it came out negative

Bet you can control it with a genuine Bear Cellphone App.

Last turkey season I don’t see a turkey , after three seasons of me and my grandson each shot several. Called my sister at the farm today and she said she’s been seeing turkeys on the farm. We’ve have several tail fans I’ll have fix up our decoys. Spring turkey season starts March 30th here in central Texas. All three of grandsons and my son came and we shot our bows this week.

That will work great.....turkeys aren't as all fired smart as some folks will have you believe.

If a fat guy can hide behind just a tail/fan and blast turkeys at 10 feet, I am CERTAIN your homemade decoy system will work.

Thanks fellas, I've been chasing Turkeys for quite awhile but usually don't use decoys or a blind. I lost most of my hearing the last couple of years so it's been tough hunting. I'm hoping to sit it out with those decoys and maybe draw one in. I got a edge because I don't care if I kill another bird ever, just like to watch the show. I was taking kids out for youth day and calling in birds but they all grew up.

There's nothing better than sitting on a ridge listening to a dozen atoms open up first thing in the morning.

It's right up there with elk bugling. One of the great sounds in nature. I absolutely love it all.

I really believe a good flocked fanning decoy can make a huge difference. Good luck to all this spring, it's a magical time to be in the woods.

Toms, not atoms. ,lolol

Will I lost the hearing in one ear completely and it’s hard to tell direction. I use them just for knowing which way to look since knowing direction is impossible. Running n gunning is a challenge. In the morning I’m at a roost set up. My girl comes w me and helps with direction the night before so I know which way to look. I mentor lots of kids, mine are older now too but I always find a few. I also mentor for the NWTF, kids, women n disabled vets. Look into it if you need kids to mentor

Chasing turkeys is always a blast,it's always fun trying to figure out their next move. It's like playing chess with them.
