bear was well known for a lot of special bows over the years...many ive had! the takedown, super k,59, 62, kmag, but it seems one has stood the test of time...call it a beginner bow or a working mans bow...but the grizzly is a fine performer and IMO one of the best all around...good for the blind or stand...I started my bear infatuation with kmags and I had about 8 of them at once..then I found my love for the grizzly...I had 12 of them at one time...ive owned everything from the zebrawood bows up until new production and most in-between...when it comes to a one piece bow I find it hard to beat a grizz...just wanted a thread to blast pics of one of the bear bows that has continued to be in production all these years...

I have a '54,'57,'59,'63,'65 and a '66. Don't care for the bow after '67. Design changed and the grip is not to my liking. Killed my first deer in northern Mn. in 1968 with a '64 Grizzly.

sheepdog, good luck in finding a 56". I didn't think they were easy to find, being they were only made from 1968-1970. My bow was made in 1969 according to the serial number which starts with a 9.

Here's one I had given to me by a friend. It was a 40#er and I didn't use it much, was just laying around, so I sent it to a young wounded vet who was looking for one lighter than his so he could shoot while he rehab'd his shoulder. Bunch of guys pitched in here and sent him this other gear too. Nice Zebrawood Griz.

I had a old Grizzly that I shot every once in a while. Unfortunately it is in a burn box right now. The top limb broke right at the fade. My thinking is that my 31" draw finally did it in. My neighbor got nervous any time he was by me when I shot it, he said it looks like the string was going to pop off. I now keep looking for a good deal on a black beauty.

My new lefty 62 hasn’t been thoroughly tested. I ordered a new string and was a bit disappointed that after drawing the string settled outside the string groove. I straightened it with the hot/cold water treatment with good results. I’m recovering from a broken back and have only test fired it at short range not drawing past about 25”. Hopefully it will stay straight and be an excellent shooter.

It’s like a rekindled love! I will add that it’s amazing how the newer grizzlys are almost identical to the grayling models. I haven’t bought a brand new bear in a couple years but I’m feeling a new grizz or super grizz is in my future. I just have always clicked with this model compared to others. Gainesville models just seem to be a bit smoother compared to grayling models

Late 80's??? The night before my acquaintance had made a poor shot (or so it seemed) in the hind quarter; he was so discouraged that the next day when we went to trail it he brought his 10/22 with the full expectation of not finding it and doing some small game hunting instead.
I trailed it to a berm by a bog and there she was laying down, I only had one broadhead and the rest were small game arrows; as she struggled to get up I had to put her down with a 30 yard shot through the boiler room... I didn't even think about the yardage, it was more instinct (she tasted wonderful).
Side NOTES: - The ATV that was used to pull her up at camp had the front wheels off the ground due to her weight!
- The Bear Grizzly 45#@28"was responsible for my first 10 whitetails!
