What are your general opinions of the Black Widow PL longbow? Are they smooth, quick, quiet etc? What bow do you think would compare to it in a hybrid longbow? Thanks, Bob

Pretty much all ive used the last nine years. Either the standard or Toby grip. There both great at 62". They do everything I need done with a bow. Never tried comparing them with others, I'm not very talented..

They are one of the top reflex/deflex longbows built today. They are well made, forgiving, fast, quiet, no hand shock and they are very accurate shooting longbows. You can't find a better company that stands behind their products. I own two PL's and love them........Jim

Loved mine

I had one that shot well, but I thought it was a little louder than other bows I've had (Fox Triple Crown for one).

It way probably just my setup.

I love my Black Widow PLX's, Olive Ash and Kingwood both are 66" takedowns. These bows are Selfbow quite and cast a 10 GPI arrow at 180 FPS. I also have a Black Widow PA III Autumn Oak and I have to say that the Autumn Oak looks as good as the "X" series bows.

The guys and gals at Black Widow are very helpful and knowledgeable. They stand behind their products through and through almost to the point of being generous. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for plus a whole lot more. My oldest Widow is 7 years old and I can wax it and it looks brand new all over again.

A few years back a fellow Leather Waller rolled his wheeler of the side of a mountain and wrecked his Black Widow bow. The guys at Black Widow caught wind of his story and sent him a new bow. How's that for customer loyalty?

Yes Sir, I love my Black Widows they have served me well in woods as well as 3D shoots.

They have a significant history, so all you need to find out is if they fit you. Lots of bows of that design as well from imports to high-dollar customs.

Great shooting bows. I only got rid of mine because of the grip. Could never get used to it. But otherwise...a great shooting bow.

They have a test drive program. You pay the full price of the Bow and they’ll ship it to you to try out for a couple weeks. If you don’t like it they’ll give you a full refund as long as you don’t damage it. I kept mine.

Some years back I took their seminar and got to shoot a couple different weights, lengths and materials. I don’t remember try the Toby grip. But I enjoyed shooting them. I compare them to my Wes Wallace Royal LB. In fact If I decide on another LB of that type it would be a coin flip.

I had a 66 inch T.D.

It was a very strong, solidly built and tough bow.Solid shooter as well.

I would say Big Jims Buffalo Bow is a bow that is most similar to the Widow longbow.I bought a few of those before he got so popular and his prices went way up.I figured I was getting a Widow pretty much without the high price tag.

The Liberty Chief would be another thats pretty similar and thier are others.

What Jim said! I have a Tulipwood PLX 62". I really enjoy hunting and shooting it.

Great bows! I have 2 . Quick, quiet and easy to shoot.

I like them, they shoot hard and will really drive an arrow in the 9-10gpp range. If they seem a little louder than some tamer bow models. it might be that they are putting a bit more into it. Tune...

I like them mine is a PLV very good shooting longbow. there customer service is as good as it gets.

They are very well made bows as are all BW bows. Whether it will be quiet and shootable for you has -0- to do with anyone else's opinion.

Nice bow........best customer service.......but my Goshawk from Chad Holm shot better for me so I sent the PL's down the road.

Best longbow I've ever had...PLGA golden anniversary, 49@28. Sold it to help fund a Kimber pistol. Still have the Kimber...still kicking my arse for selling that bow.

I got my PLX in 2004. It's been my "go to bow" ever since.

From: BenMaher

I own 3 of them. They are my preferred bow, and that is after 35 years in the sport. Have owned pretty much most of the bows and/or bow styles out there give it take ,and these do everything well. They don’t particulalry whine in any way department but overall are just great dependable and accurate bows. BW customer service is second to none. If I am shooting recurved I shoot Titans.

But generally you will find me with a Widow Longbow in my hand

I recently Required a PLX TD In stunning Olive Ash, 62" 47@27" I honestly have to say that it is quickly becoming my favorite longbow. Fast, accurate, and DEAD quiet. What else do you look for in a longbow?

Call Roger up and he'll be happy to send you one out to try, that way you'll know for sure.

A PL Black Widow is a mild reflex hybrid longbow so it compares best to itself. Nothing special about them, but I kind of wish I still had my takedown PLX. It was a bit too much weight for me, but that is only a matter of working a little harder to increase draw weight.
