Check out the video on the thread "semi auto assault bow". I think that's what it was. It's a style used by Indians in war. Not a hunting style but I would say it falls under "instinctive" !

Which “Indians” are you referring to? India? Native Americans? Both had war bows ..

I'm a bit more impressed with accuracy than speed.

Same here.

Although, this guy is fairly impressive. I've seen several of his videos going back to when he was quite a bit younger. Much respect.

I'm more of an accurate "artillery" style shooter. I'll stand on the hill 100 yards away, and watch their arrows falling 50 yards ( at least) short, while mine are dropping on them (fast an accurate)

[[[ "I think your artillery game might be thrown off a little." ]]]

Maybe so. Maybe no.

It's highly unlikely I would find myself in an arrow shooting war against multiple assailants by myself.

One thing I do know for sure: The bow & arrows I use are far more powerful, than those they are using, and will shoot much farther while retaining that power.

Also, I can shoot pretty quick, with pretty good accuracy with that same bow.

He flat out stated his bows that would have been used for war were lighter and his hunting bows would be heavier. What he demonstrated in the video that I saw was the battle field aspect. I imagine if and when he used a bow for hunting, things would be different. I know from experience that speed plus accuracy with an arrow loaded with an HTM with a nickel glued on it is a big deal in self defense against someone with a shotgun. Notice, I am still here and the hot tempered pushy kid with the shotgun now is a die hard longbow only hunter.

I know one other thing for sure.

I wouldn't want to find out, and neither would they. 8^)

No way. An HTM hit with a hunting weight bow even through a heavy coat is dang near deadly force. I was very relieved when the shotgun run and gunner that busted through my decoys, was finally able to breathe, but what can one do when someone points a gun at you and says, "Look who's got the gun m--f--er?" He later apologized and became a much more ethical bowhunter.

Archery Tag franchises and equipment are available on line. Everything you need to shoot at one another in a safe way; if the rules are followed, that is. bvd

Hemorrhage is the primary killing factor for hunting, but I've never read where anyone says an arrow won't/don't/can't deliver blunt force trauma.

They most certainly can, and can kill quite easily.

There's likely not a man alive, that if I shot them with my bow & arrow fitted with a blunt (even at a fairly long distance), who would not be severely crippled (at least temporarily), and quite possibly much worse.

my father said in Vietnam the indigenous natives would shoot monkeys with barbed bamboo arrows & the money would tear it's insides up trying to pull the arrow out.basically kill itself

Back when I raised sheep, some got out one day and in the course of herding them back in, I turned one with a rubber blunt. I had short drawn the bow and popped the ewe in the ribs and she headed for the gate. The next day I had a dead sheep. Never did that again.

Well, sheep are just animals looking for a place to die anyway...and snotty nosed at that.
