Great news if it's true.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 17-Feb-19

Where did you find that? There has been no news on the local television and one would think there would be if this is new news.

From: David McLendon
Date: 17-Feb-19

That's huge. I see a lot of job openings for year round hunting and darting deer and elk. Counting Coup so to speak. ;)

From: Andy Man

Ha Ha ! got it

From: 4nolz@work

Why would they concentrate on curing deer if they've found it in Alzheimer's and could get a cure?

Real dubious.

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

So what's the joke?

From: Nemophilist

Deja Vu

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 17-Feb-19

I posted this in a new topic, because the other topic has an "auto start" video in it, so if you don't go to that video, and stop it, you would wind up hearing both video at once. Kind of annoying. LOL

Can you post a link to this video?

From: david k.
Date: 17-Feb-19

I'm hopeful it works....the reason they'd start on deer before going straight to testing it on patients with Alzheimers is most likely be because of the process they'd be forced to follow in order to get it approved for testing on humans.

From: Sparky
Date: 17-Feb-19

I found it.

From: pdk25
Date: 17-Feb-19

I couldn't open the video. david k., I am not sure about your conclusions, unless there is something on the video that explains it. Prion Disease, such as CWD, is not the same thing as Alzheimer's dementia.

From: pdk25
Date: 17-Feb-19

Watched the video. Gonna wait for more info It would be nice if it is true.

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 17-Feb-19

I didn't post the video as "fact", but it does look pretty legit.

I simply posted it as a point of interest.

Yes it would be awesome if it's true.

Oh, I know Rick. I wasn't aware that there was even an alternative theory for CWD, other than prions, before watching the video. Just think, they may be spiking the feed with antibiotics and asking hunters to feed the deer with it. Crazy.

Text and videos on the latest CWD research is available at http://www.unifiedsportsmenpa.org/

The gentleman speaking in the video posted by Rick at the top of this thread is Dr. John Eveland.

I pray that it is true.

From: sammyg

If this is the real deal and I hope and pray it is,this could be the scientific and medical breakthrough of the century.

From: stykman

All well and good for harvested or captive deer and elk, but how would this vaccine be administered to wild animals?

From: JusPassin Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 18-Feb-19

If this is true, and it's a big if, it is an amazing break through.

From: AKROGBO
Date: 18-Feb-19

Now lets get lymes disease taken care of!

From: Wayne Hess
Date: 18-Feb-19

Thanks Rick for being on Top.

From: South Farm

Note to Minnesota DNR:

You'll have to fabricate a new crisis to kill off our deer population;)

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 18-Feb-19

Yeah Ralph. I should have said "Possible Cure", but I was excited to see the news.

But, if this is true, there's a break though just in the knowing of what is causing it, and it's good news all around.

P.S.

Luv Ya Too. 8^)

Hmmmm interesting. Let’s hope Dr Bastian is correct. Would be an amazing breakthrough.

"This is how you start a catastrophic species ending event. Maybe many species?" You might as well claim immunizing kids against various diseases is going to end with the extinction of children if not the human race.

From: Tradbowmike
Date: 18-Feb-19

Nice job Rick. Look at the recent research announcements regarding Alzheimer's in people. Similar mechanism of action. I remember when the "experts" laughed at the researcher who discovered that acid-based bacteria caused ulcers in the 1960's. No one laughing at him anymore.

From: ruffedges
Date: 18-Feb-19

It is important to remember that the idea that a prion causes CWD or CJD is only a popular theory. Make no mistake, it is only a theory. Dr. Frank Bastion is well known and he can be easily researched (read "google" his name). He proposes that the the prion is caused by the infection of a strain of spiroplasma, meaning that it is a by-product and not the cause of the disease.

No one can tell me how to test my deer or who pays for it

From: RymanCat
Date: 20-Feb-19

Hey stop watching CNN that Chris Como dude please stop with Fake news.

Yeah roundup might be why I have so many non typicals or because they are eating non GMO corn and they are getting freaky? LOL

From: Lost Arra
Date: 20-Feb-19

+1 Babysaph

If and when a quick, reliable and hopefully in-the-field test is developed then some progress on CWD will be made.

From: ButchMo
Date: 20-Feb-19

Babaysaph, at a guess, maybe just contact the DNR? That's what other folks are doing.
