Ok everyone, you saw the bow closet build and now I have to reinforce the rack. No giveaway here, but how many do you recognize. I think I have a “problem”. LOL! This is just half the rack! Lance

From: crookedstix
Date: 15-Feb-19

You definitely have a problem; I see at least 8 or 9 Evil Dwarf Bows there. To the woodstove with the lot of them!

From: Caughtandhobble
Date: 15-Feb-19

Nice, real nice... I don't see a problem, lol :)

Another bed, and the rest of the rack.Whew! Those of you that want more bows, show this to your wives and say something like “gee honey, would you look at this! You thought I was nuts!” Maybe you’ll get that next bow or you’ll just get the look! Lance

Yeah, the problem is you're too heavy on recurves and need more longbows to balance out the arsenal!

Dangerous waters here!!

Beautiful pictures Lance!! I do think it might be the beginning of a "condition" though? I'm not sure, but I think it's called. "chronic happiness. disease"! I am starting to show some signs of it myself.....bows come....bows go...most stay! One has to find more and bigger "racks". Looking at pictures like yours may cause flare-ups. Continued "happiness" Lance.

From: crookedstix
Date: 15-Feb-19

Now Lance, this is serious. I want you to tell me the truth: how many of those bows have a draw weight that exceeds their length? I had no idea that you were quite as flagrant a violator of my Guidelines for Bow Dimensions.

From: David Mitchell
Date: 15-Feb-19

The biggest problem I see is that the shelf is on the wrong side of every one of those bows. LOL

From: Nemophilist
Date: 15-Feb-19

You don't have a problem Lance. But you got a lot more bows than me.

From: Mpdh Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 15-Feb-19

You don’t need any more bows, but you may need a bigger house!

Lance, I have no words. RK

The problem with using the guest beds as bow racks is that its not an excuse you can actually use to defer family and friends who want to come visit for a few days. You can imagine how that would play out. What you need is a couple heavy duty, double-sided 7 ft. free standing bow racks, 30 bows to a rack. Then the guests will have to make the decision of whether to sleep in your "bow room" and spend the night admiring your excellent collection. Do I see a Firedrake and a Fire Drake on the bed? A bevy of Ben Pearsons and a bunch of Bears? A Herters Perfection C22? A Neco Tellum rooting among the Roots? A Swift Wing and a Red Wing?

Good problem to have, nice bows Lance!

From: Buckdancer

Yep you need more longbows ????

From: Jon Stewart

You are seeing someone about this, lol nice bunch of bows.

From: Jim McCann
Date: 15-Feb-19

I'm shocked that no one has made a serious off to help you out. Well, I will! Upon your request, I will PM my mailing address. While I await the arrival of several boxes of bows I'll make room for them here in my home.

You're welcome.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem LOL

From: camodave
Date: 15-Feb-19

I am a recovering bow addict owning less than 30 for the first time in years. I would never have the knowledge I do, firsthand not the conventional internet website know how based on guesswork, without having owned the 80 or so great bows I have. Lately I find the best way to get rid of bows is by gifting them to people who appreciate them. And in exchange I get new friendships, lots of good will and the occasional roast, chops or ground meat.

Man, if my wife saw that, she would reconsider her coments that I have too many bows.

From: RymanCat

Looks like my house too.LOL

Hey Dave you remember me saying to you about your bows laying around. OMG I got just like that and had same deal going on. Finally I put racks on the walls but now I have birds and bucks laying everywhere all horded up. Out of walls got to get cleaned up.LOL

Lance, I spy a 56 or 57 Bear Polar... best shooter (for me) or, luckiest shooter...nice collection. Do you have a rotation? How do you decide which one to shoot?

From: Pdiddly

Build some bow racks Lance. 4-5" Shaker pegs spaced, I think, 5" but I will verify.

Most efficient means to store A LOT OF BOWS!! Ask me, I know.

Then they're on display beautifully!!

I forgot to say you don't have a problem...you have an opportunity! To build bow racks!!

From: Sparky

I think I see a 46" one in there. I'm trying to trade a Kota Prairie Fire for one of those on the Swap and trade.

From: Babysaph

How can you shoot all of them?

From: JayInOz

The pictures made me think of a feller on a koi carp fanciers forum once. He used to say a little prayer- "Lord, when I die, please don't let my wife sell my fish for what she thinks I paid for them" :) You married Lance? JayInOz

And here they are back in place after I reinforced the racks with a full length 1X4 attached to the studs and then the racks attached to the board. I hung them back up according to manufacturer, so we’ll see how long that will last. I’ll get to answering the questions that were asked via a PM, tonight of tomorrow. Thanks for putting up with my madness. I sent a couple of photos to my new lady and she just replied “oh my!” I may surprise my little sister (she’s 55!) with a couple of 40- 45# bows when she visits next month as well as the Samick Sage that I have for her. She wants to bowhunt in N.Ca where she lives. Lance

I can't say that any of this surprises me. When Lance came elk hunting with Pdiddly and me, we got curious about why he was staggering so under his backpack. When he took it off, we investigated...and we pulled about seven pounds of different knives out of the first six inches of gear. The man just has too many toys, LOL.

A good friend of mine- who also happens to be an excellent bowyer- is currently finishing up a pretty little 30# reflex deflex longbow for my old darlin missus. It'll be a birthday present for her. She's never shot a bow or expressed any desire to do so- so this might not go well. We shall see:) JayInOz

I knew I had a problem at 144... then 160... then 168... Sold or gave away a bunch. Still hanging on to the last 110. Would like to lean it down to a good, solid 45 or so... Shoot Straight, rare breed

Well if any of you collectors out there have a Martin Hunter made of purple heart with a draw weight of about 40 lbs and you'd be willing to part with it let me know....

I think the most bows we've ever had in the house would be 10 that would include my kid's bows....

From: mangonboat

Lance, its time to come out of the closet. Bring your ABCD ( Acute Bow Collecting disorder) into the light and into the bedrooms. We've got your back.

I love this post!!!.I just got into this last year and am rapidly accumulating I'm looking to buy two new ones and my wife is shaking her head asking why when I already have alot at 7.. HAHAHAHA CANNOT WAIT TO SHOW HER THESE PICTURES!! and say "look honey, these guys are sick!! with a terrible addiction and very understanding wives. I'm just a normal guy that just wants these last two,and I'm done.

I'm a lot different . I'd sell all but 2 and go hunting with the money. But enjoy

From: Oldbowyer
Date: 16-Feb-19

Well Brother...That is one damn fine collection of wood and fiberglass. Its also more than obvious that you have a problem and your wife does not have real a clue to the expanse and expense of this collection.

Think if she ever put the math to that you'd be a dead man. So JIMHO. You need to liquidate everything you have (you can send it my way) and keep that old static on the wall with Dead Heads. I have a lot of the Dead Heads so I don't need anymore.

Just trying to save your skin and your marriage! What brothers are for! LMAO

From: motherlode

They are more than just old bows, they are works of art that you can actually play with. Iove seeing these collections, plus these are a way to save and show the golden age of archery.

How the hell do you even get in that closet let alone find anything in particular? I would at least use one of those rooms with the bed in it for my bows...and use the closet for a bedroom! Which incedentaly I have done in the past!
