does or has anyone used one of these packs on hunts into back country, if so whaats your thoughts.

If it's genuine issue and not a knock-off I'd assume it's well built. Looks like it has plenty of capacity and good close-in balance.

The only issue is that it might not be so well suited to hauling out a load of meat and antlers, the way an external frame pack would. Depends on the country you're in too.

Great pack especially for the money. A little heavy as a base weight, but you can trim it to cut weight if you desire. I carry one reguarly to train and for general hauling. Keep one in my truck all hunting season long, has come in handy many times.

Very tough, but heavy! They tend to have a shorter torso length fit of the frame. If you are under 6' you should be fine.

They aren't meant to be comfortable, they are meant to carry a heavy load close to the body so if the Marine needs to maneuver he can! Packs that are meant to be comfortable have load lifters etc to transfer weight to the hips and give your shoulders a break. If you're young and dumb, they are great packs, if you're older, not do great. I have the strap system on my climber stand, compared to the suspension on my Kifaru, they suck big time!

I retired from the Marine Corps 1 year ago, almost to the day. I've carried that pack for quite a few miles and IIRC, that pack weighs around 11 lbs - empty.

It is tough, but heavy, and would likely serve you well. Be aware that it is a top-loading pack that is long and fairly skinny. If it is the version with the external plastic frame, be careful because that frame breaks easily (at least it does for Marines...).

My first USMC pack was the one issued inWWII and Korea. Traded for an Army Ranger aluminum frame with a little nylon pack. Sure beat the canvas one in SE Asia. ALCE carried me thru Panama and Desert storm. Would like to look at this new one. I have a 40 year old aluminum pack frame that allows meat bags to be lashed on easily. At my age, no pack feels good. Semper Fi Smuckatelli. I retired 22 years ago. Keep up a routine and exercise and you will live longer than those who just sit on their azures.
