Yes, contact the WI Traditional Archers. Info on line. Just Google them. Classes in self bow making offered every year at workshops. Plus some accomplished bowyers easily available and willing to help.

Check out Ojibwabowhunters.clubexpress.com. Wisconsin traditional archers puts on a self bow jamboree hosted by our club. Lots of tools available, even staves. Perry knows his stuff and will take you through the whole process over the course of the weekend. Free camping. We also have a traditional shoot going on same weekend. 3 full 28 target courses, novelty shots.

There is a thing call BowJam in WI. I am a WTA member and have seen that but I fall on the other spectrum. Ha, I like the Super recurves so I don't pay much attention.

I had help but I did make an Osage bow once. It looks good, shoots and I can say I made a bow but it was a lot of work.

I would encourage you to investigate the BowJam. I think that is what you are looking for.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Bill

Ojibwa Bowhunters is a great shoot and a real nice range. The president was/is a traditional shooter. Nice people and a nice campground too. I would really like to try making a selfbow myself.
