I am ordering some screw-in tips for my arrows. Need them to match my present insert diameter (obviously). I have calipers to measure my present tip.

I need to specify "insert size" for the order. Does this refer to the diameter of the threads, or the diameter of the shaft between the threads and the tip?

It looks like "insert size" as requested for the order refers to "inner arrow shaft diameter" in this photo?

Thanks in Advance -

What kind of arrows? What is the outside diameter of the insert at the very front?

Insert size usually refers to the inside diameter of the arrow shaft. If it's .244-.246 order 5/16 field tips. Smaller, like .204 and you'll liklely need 9/32".

Thanks for the quick answer Dana!

Here you can see my present tip. It is an EZ pull so is slightly oversized.

The largest tip head dia is 5/16. The small head dia (arrow shaft outside) is 5/16. The shaft of the tip dia is 3/16, and the thread dia is 9/64. The inside arrow diameter (at the inserted nock end) is .245. Outside arrow dia 5/16 or .290.

If I understand your question the inserts are in the shaft right? You order points by the head size to match the diameter of the arrow. You don't want the points to be bigger than the arrow or they are very hard to pull out of the target. If still confused tell us what arrow you are using and we will fix you right up. The threads and shoulder dimensions are the same on all points only the weight and head size differs.>>>----> Ken

It looks like I have my answer - Thanks Ken and Dana. Looks like I need 5/16 tip size.
