Hi..I'm kinda new to the Selfbow seen..can you tune a selfbow that was tillered for split finger to be shot three under? Thanks for any answers.

There is a Facebook page called Selfbow Nation. Lots of gurus there.

You will need to answer one question to be accepted into the group. Will you follow the rules?

Sometimes you can change the tiller of the bow by drawing it higher or lower than it was tillered for. It's not difficult to sand the bottom limb to make it a more even tillered bow, which would be better for three under.

That is the way I shoot mine. I don't think it knows the difference. >>>>-----> Ken

Could I move the arrow rest up a tad?

Well, I think you would strain the lower limb a little more so I would make it stiffer but I know tis is a preexisting bow, Sapper.

My middle brother of blessed memory dabbled with with 3 under for a bit and didn't see any difference in arrow flight.

So if your arrow flight is good watch the lower limb.

I agree with Jawgey. I have given a few split finger self bows away to 3 under gappers. Between changing the fulcrum and holding for much longer the bottom limb took another inch plus of set as a result. I would plan on it unless the bow is very over-built.

I tiller split finger bows 1/8" or a little more positive on the top limb, for three under bows I generally use even tiller.

I put a rest on my bows and tiller to the rest. I adjust both split and three finger bows while I shoot them to get the least hand shock and best arrow flight.

The tiller shape when you draw the bow is not necessarily the same as the tiller shape when it is pushing your arrow. They don't return the same way they are drawn, the limbs respond to the arrow once you release the string. I would ignore the tiller shape and pay attention to how it is shooting.

Is the lower limb already shorter?

From: Sapper1980

It still appears to be even as far as bend goes....the arrow rest is moveable..that's why I thought about just moving the rest up a tad.

Yep, the rest and nock point.

If a selbow is tillered for split and then you shoot it three under, you are going to change the tiller. The bottom limb will take on more of a bend.
