My guess is that the hand shock is coming from what appears to overly wide limb tips.
I would put masking tape on the back of the bow and reduce the limb width 1/8" at a time from the 1/3rd of limb length mark to the limb tips and I'll bet the hand shock will go away.
Nice looking bow.

What Frank said plus maybe try to increase brace height a little and shoot wood arrows. Great job.

Ty all I am using 5/16 wood arrows. The band shock isn't all that bad. I do have about 2" of set.

Tip width doesn't cause hand shock. Your finish work looks nice, the grain on that board scares the tar out of me as you are working that bow very hard at that length and draw.

Pearl Drums, are you talking about that diagonal grain across the upper limb.

Mostly, yes. But neither is suitable. With board bows proper grain is all that matters. But, for the few bucks they charge I guess its good finish work practice. Just don't fall in love with the bow.

Actually I have another board bow with similar grain also hickory and it is about 5 years old and still going. Albeit it is a little longer but I guess my short draw length is good for something. Rich pyle

I'm thinking like Pearl. Beautiful finish work. That grain seems to really run off the belly badly on upper limb. Looks like you learned a fair amount though. I really like the finish work. Are those real skins or faux. They look nice from here
