A friend and I were talking about the weekend. The snowmobile trails were open for the first time this season. I saw about 100 sleds outside a local bar/restaurant.

The lake boat launches were full with vehicles, trailers, ATV's parked some distance down the road. Snowmobiles, ATV's, trucks, parties and the like littered the frozen lakes.

I begged out of some events and got Lost in the Woods. A pair of snowshoes, , a quiver of Flu-flus, and my Savannah Stealth. That was the Reset my brain needed more than the other social options.

Very nice Mr. LaClair. I have a great set of vintage Beavertail style shoes, but cannot use them in the swamps or along the river. They would be too long to navigate thru the snags and snarls. As it was, I butt-planted and Face-planted in these short style shoes due to obstructions. Lots of downed trees in the area this last year due to 29" of rain!

An example of sections adjacent to photos. I am actually walking on paths opened up by neighbors ARGO...

Very nice, friends. It's not all about horns and antlers for our kind. I spend a lot of time on snowshoes following my pointing dogs in winter and spring while hunting ptarmigan with a shotgun, but as soon as the weather moderates a bit I'll be out with the recurve and some flu-flu arrows in search of snowshoe hare or ptarmigan.

Nice pictures and a fine way to regenerate the spirit. I have to drive a bit to get to country where I can have such an experience. I do it occasionally but not enough! Now I'm inspired thanks to your sojourn as well As George's.

It might snow friday and I love getting out alone while the snow is coming down.

Scott are those bindings the kind made from an inner tube?

I believe so. Rather thick and resilient. If they ever become damaged I will go to Paracord simple strappings. They can be quickly fashioned and shoes slip on/off with no hands. Nice demonstration on Youtube.

I love that Stealth. It is the bow that ALWAYS goes for a walk in the woods with me. I think I bought it in 2013? I have shot Acacia Tree bows and was not able to detect any difference.

That is a lovely area and Wisconsin sure is rich in archery history. Nice walk.

I’m jealous. Been office and house bound for two weeks. I miss snow, too. Used to work nights in the St, Paul Ford plant, found a small pond with a walking path around it. Took to doing a lap every day before work, even in the snow. Great mental therapy. Thanks for sharing, looks like a blast.
