Have you ever bought a bow because it looked cool and you didn't know anything about it? Well here is one for me. It looks like a baby Bob Lee. My wife or daughter-in-law might get to use this one. Does anyone know anything about this bow?

Thanks

Looks like it's signed with the bowyer's name.

If it is the bowyer's name I haven't been able to find anything on him.

Jody, there are a lot of bowyers who never get noticed...or want to be noticed that will make bows and sign them The name looks like Gary Bennett, and the bow was likely made for a family member or friend who was probably a young person...due to the light weight/draw. If you live long enough you'll run into many bows by obscure bowyers who made fine bows but never had their names in the magazines or on the net.

That looks like a fine bow and would make some one a good shooter. Whoever built it did an exemplary job on that riser...it is more Howattesque than Bob Lee, but it's very nice. It reminds of me of the kits that came out in the 80's under Wilderness Archery.

It's a Gary Basset bow, made in the Denver, Colorado area. He made some really good bows. I asked him to make me one of these "baby" bows in 55#...... nope was the answer. I have no idea where Gary is now. I know he quit making bows several years ago.

Gary lives in Brighton CO about a mile from me. He plans on making bows again in the future but I don't know when.

Aha...Barret not Bennet. Glad someone knew the answer. Never heard of him back here in the east.

Thanks for the information!

Does anyone recall what this bow cost new?

This is not the only bow he made. He built some wonderful full size bows that were as good as any bow out there.
