Looks tasty. I ate that for breakfast at my Grandparents when I went there for the weekend. I always thought everything was fried chicken...Pheasant too, I was 4 and didn’t know what any of it was,..’til my Dad and Grandpa took me out hunting for the first time when I was 5.

Nice!! I just told my wife I was going to take the bow rabbit hunting tomorrow, since we got some snow on the ground today.

My mouths watering already, hoping I see one and shoot straight.

Good Hunt'n!

Rick, your killing me! I was planning on zipping arrows at any squirrels I see tomorrow also. Two of my favorite wild game meals!

Chuck, I'll be honest - I actually prefer rabbit over venison.

Squirrel is good too, but I like venison better.

Rick, I am glad to see you are eating your veggies!

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Dang those look good. My wife would probably like that rabbit and shrimp dish. I've been rabbit hunting with the bow for many years, especially back in the 1970's when my late hunting buddy Warren came over to hunt. Find the sitting and pop them in the head with a blunt. We can get back at it next Monday when firearms for deer is over. I'll take rabbit over deer meat any day.

Havin said that I love rabbit, I been huntin em with a bow for a long time. A good rabbit dog is more likely to ensure success.

More rabbits with me and Trump in the winter of 62

From: Ron LaClair

Old Trump was a good rabbit dog and he was also a publicity hound, he always knew when he was getting his picture taken.

In those early 60;'s I usually was laid off from work about 6 months out of the year and I couldn't afford to buy a beagle even though you could get a good running dog for as little as $25.

One day ole Trump showed up at my door lookin tired and hungry. I took him in and tried to find his owner for a long time but never did. Turned out he was not only a good rabbit dog but also good at flushing pheasants which we had a lot of in those days.

The problem with dogs is they don't live as long a us humans, I've had to bury many good hunting companions over the years. Since Trump I've never been without a beagle. My current dog buddy is Ruger and like all beagles he loves to run rabbits.

Boy, that sure brings back some fond memories. I always loved rabbit hunting. Even without Beagles, but I loved to hear the dogs too. My favorite thing to see and hear was when a dog pushed out and saw the rabbit. I'll never forget those days. A good time was had by all. Thanks for the smile this put on my face. I'll be smiling the rest of the day.

From: Two-more-steps

Ron those are some great pics. They brought back good memories of; Jigs...Bo...Belle...Jake, and my last bunny hunt'n buddy, Bade, aka "Chuck's Shadow Bade".

I've had some really good ones in my 67 years. I prefer the medium speed dogs myself although at one time I had a brace dog. Talk about slow. She would start one, I could almost go home, have lunch and still be back in time to get a poke at it on the first circle. I learned all about rabbit hunting with a 22 pistol using that dog. At one time I had a pack of six. those were fun times. Often had more than one going at a time. I had to put my last two down about ten years ago. But now I have Rigby the super dog. Not your typical rabbit hound but he will do. Actually he is my youngest daughters Standard Poodle. Go ahead I can take the ribbing. I'll put him up against any one else's meat dog. He is really good at finding all the burdock and sticktites he can.

Stick bow that AWESOME! Some of my best memories are roaming our family farm and chasing bunnies with stick and string with my Dad, Uncles and Cousins. Dad's 94 now and I'm the baby of the family at 53. Lasting memories we all still talk about!

This is one of 2 this morning. The other was an embarrassing body hit. Aim for the head, often times an arrow going past freezes them up

Now that deer season is over, the fun begins! Nothing like chasing Snowshoe hares, and getting an arrow in them! I hunt without a dog, so you have to be keener than your quarry!

From: TrapperKayak

"...my first beagle Trump in 1961." Ron, you kinda look like young Donald in that picture. Appropriate name fer the dog, LOL! Trapper chases the rabbits out of the yard every morning when I let him out. But they always come back. Might have to bring one in for dinner some evening, but I probably wouldn't be very popular with the better half if she knew I was shooting one of our lawn bunnies. :)
